Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear Survival Guide

[This blog entry has been updated]

stewart

The United States Department of the Interior's National Park Service says in its permit for the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear - a permit finally finalized and issued this week - that "The Daily Show and the Colbut Report [ooh snap!] " will be "co-hosting a political engagement/entertainment event."

According to the Park Service, they're expecting 60,000 people (though, don't worry, the Porta-pottie company says it's delivering enough loos for twice that crowd). The Park Service expects things to start to rev up around 10 a.m. and wind down at 5 p.m., though the official rally times are noon to 3.

The "activity," the permit says, "will include music, comedy and a 'rally'."

Buried deep in the 60-page-ish permit, on page 22, is the "SHOW RUNDOWN":

PRE-PRE SHOW -- 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Video montages/music will play on the Jumbotrons around the venue to entertain the crowd as they gather.

PRESHOW -- 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

12:00 - 12:40 -- THE ROOTS will play for the crowd.

12:40 - 12:57 -- Comedian (TBD) will warm-up the audience.

12:57 - 1:00 -- Video countdown & intros

SHOW -- 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

1:00 - 1:05 SINGING OF THE NATIONAL ANTHEM -- Musical guest (TBD)

1:05 - 1:20 JON STEWART welcomes the crowd

1:20 - 1:30 STEPHEN COLBERT enters

1:30 - 1:35 BENEDICTION by actor Don Novello

1:35 - 1:40 POEM read by actor Sam Waterson [note: Park Service spelling, not WaPo TeamTV's]

1:40 - 1:50 JEFF TWEEDY & MAVIS STAPLES perform

1:50 - 2:15 JON & STEPHEN perform

2:15 - 2:20 SHERYL CROW performs

2:20 - 2:30 SPEAKERS Guests make brief statements, both LIVE and TAPE (TBD)

2:30 - 2:40 MUSICAL GUEST (TBD)

2:40 - 2:40 SANITY & FEAR awards - PRETAPED footage.

2:50 - 3:00 JON AND STEPHEN'S FINAL STATEMENTS

The permit ends at 5 p.m. on Halloween Sunday, Oct. 31, and the pick-up of the last of the controversial porta potties will be at 3 p.m. Sunday - long after most of the participants in the traditional Marine Corp Marathon, which happens that morning, will have run around town, including a visit to the Mall area.

No word whether Stewart and Colbert's boss, Comedy Central, will welcome marathoners to its porta potties - Marathon organizers made it very clear they did not want Stewart and Colbert fans using theirs.

Not all presidents were as influential as Ronal Reagan, when he spoke politicians listened. The talents of Obama point in a different direction, he is inspirational and has encouraged millions of unemployed workers not to give up hope. Gay youngster who were being bullied got up from the ground after the president promised them that there were better day`s ahead. The nation was lacking a fatherly president who loved us all, he cannot be replaced by an insensitive political leader who is only interested in pleasing lobbyists. Fortunately his affection will be with us for many years, it is no wonder he was awarded the peace prize.

No, they need them to restore the sanity of the "NO PUBIC OPTION" sign-carrying one-toothed goobers.

They won't get that, but it is good that the problem is highlighted.

And they are honest -- comedians mocking the clown Beck.

First, it would be nice if the journalists had mentioned the approximate location of the stage, does it face east or west, etc. Maybe even a little map of the map, etc.

Second, to numbersch13 whose snarky comment about Jon Stewart's change of this last name: if you listened to his NPR (yeah, I know, Liberal Media) interview with Terri Gross earlier this month, you'll know that he doesn't avoid his birth name-- as he indicated by jokingly saying that his brother changed the "family" name. Many in Show Business utilize stage names, whether Elton John, Sting, Madonna, etc. Not everyone wants to be known as Archie Leach. Or even numbersch13.

There will be about 0 moderates there, but this should be a good show of zonked out free loaders getting together to promote their communists agenda. ROTFLMAOWAV How's that hopey, dopey, changey thing going so far? I think the people are behind our first islam trained president.

two-thirds of Americans (67%) have a negative opinion of the job President Obama is doing while just over one-third (37%) have a positive opinion.
one-third of Democrats (34%) and Liberals (33%) also give him negative ratings, as do seven in ten Independents (70%) and six in ten Moderates (60%).

How desperate!!
If Barnum and Baily Circus were in town, I wonder if Obama would ride an elephant and compare his ears to the elephants ears. See who can hear that you are so full of bull with your accomplishments. He said he acted quickly.. Really!
Spent 18 months on health care which will is full of lies. Even Dems who know now what they should have known then say it sucks.
He should have spent that time creating jobs instead of flying everywhere to promote his lies.
Did he act quickly with Gitmo?
Did he act quickly with Cap & Tax..
The stimulus created maybe 300,000 new jobs.
Not the 3-million he boasted so loudly about.
Hows that foreclosure bill working out.
He did buy a dog.. come on now, not his wife, I meant Bow

Turning around the Good Ship Bush took some doing. Doesn't help when the Republicans sit in the corner and pout saying, "No!" to everything. They even opposed improving roads and bridges which has historically been a bi-partisan approval.

The Stewart rally isn't on the steps of a world-famous memorial. It's just on particular blocks of the Mall. Hence the need for directions.

It could be a buisness/Career decision.
In years past, most Hollywood Stars, and Celebrities, changed their "European" accented names, to easier to pronounce names. in the 50's and 60's there "was" a lot of discrimination against people with Jewish names, or Jewish sounding names.
I never watch him, anyway. I only see the excerpts, or clips, shown on Fox News.

The tea baggers are really afraid of people having fun at the Stewart/Colbert rally on the mall this Saturday. They're afraid that the rally will draw more people than the 87,000 that the Rally to Restore Teabagging drew a few months ago. I have friends coming in from all over the country and I'd imagine around 50-100 of my DC friends will be attending. The event is going to be HUGE.

In a few hours people will try to reclaim sanity in Washington, and about time.

Hopefully the focus will be on fun, amazement and wonderment – these were goals of royal jesters which were necessitated after a thousand years of European diplomacy, intrigue, and occasional friendship. The tradition was discontinued by Cromwell and others who thought laughter was foolish. But laughter is a good remedy for the evils of intrigue and diplomacy.

When a person speaks it is polite to listen and smile irrespective of their words or lies, it is not evil to be polite, but it is evil to allow known deception to continue without comment. When Abu Ghraib was blamed on a few bad apples, the appropriate response was hysterical laughter; and when Indonesian President (General) Yudhoyono says the torture seen in the videos recently smuggled from Papua is the work of a few bad apples, the appropriate response is hysterical laughter.

People who can laugh generally have a better appreciation of reality.
