'DWTS' 2nd runner up Bristol Palin blasts Margaret Cho with both barrels

By Lisa de Moraes

"Dancing with the Stars" second runner-up Bristol Palin has fired back on her Facebook page, at a crack made by one of her competitors on the show, comic Margaret Cho, as to Bristol's reason for competing in the ABC series.

Bristol Palin on "Dancing With the Stars" (ABC).

Web Site Cho, citing an unnamed "someone" who "really should seriously know the dirt really really" -- said Bristol's mom, Sarah Palin compelled her daughter to compete. after blaming Bristol "harshly and openly...for not winning the election," because she had a daughter who was a pregnant unwed teen at the time.

Web Site Cho claimed Sarah told Bristol she 'owed'' it to her to do 'DWTS' so that "America would fall in love with her again" while would help her mom run in 2012 -- Bristol having been transformed from a liability into an "asset" thanks to her time on "DWTS."

All "political considerations" were "notably absent from this calculus" when deciding whether to compete on the ABC reality show, Facebook Bristol insisted over the weekend.

She doesn't do politics, Facebook Bristol says -- she leaves that to her mom: "You want to talk politics, talk to my mom. You want to talk rumba, waltz and the beautiful Spanish paso doble, I'm your girl (but if you want to talk to the expert, call Mark [Ballas])," she writes.

Margaret Cho also competed on "Dancing With the Stars" (ABC).

In re Web Site Cho's musings, Facebook Bristol writes, " Let me shamelessly steal from Saturday Night Live: 'Really, Margaret? Really?'."

Facebook Bristol snarks that she gives Cho "extra points for getting so many 'facts' wrong in so few sentences." Her mom did not ask her to do the show, Facebook Bristol insists, though "after first worrying for me in terms of being exposed to those who hate us for what we believe in, both my mom and my dad became my number one supporters."

Then, straying somewhat from the topic at hand, Facebook Bristol begins to stray from her I-don't-do-politics stand, while getting in a nice plug for one of Mom's books:

"I will set the record straight, though my mom already did in her bestselling book
'Going Rogue'," Facebook Bristol writes. "There were a number of reasons President Obama won in 2008, but the primary reason was that the economy was starting to falter and the majority of voters thought Obama could do a better job than my mom and John McCain. It turns out, two years later, the majority of voters were wrong, but we can talk about that another time."

"You say you don't agree with the family's politics at all," Facebook Bristol tells Web Site Cho in conclusion. But, she adds, " if you understood that commonsense conservative values supports the right of individuals like you, like all of us, to live our lives with less government interference and more independence, you would embrace us faster than KD Lang at an Indigo Girls concert."

If Obama has done such a lousy job with the economy, how come the Palins are so much richer now than they were two years ago?

The Palins are richer now than two years ago because they WORK!
Funny how that his how American society runs these days, huh?

And, for all you Palin haters, stop obsessing and putting them on the front page of the WaPo and they will go away. Amazing how the supposed smart electorate still can't figure that one out.

"KD Lang at an Indigo Girls concert"? was that some lesbian in-joke? no class.

"those who hate us for what we believe in". Well, Sarah Palin is filled with hatred and contempt towards those who don't agree with her politically, and not shy about expressing it, it's her trademark, along with her closed mind/ lack of intellectual curiosity. Her style is far more offensive and far more of a legitimate cause for hatred than any specific policies she and her daughter believe in. Her utter blindness (at least publically) to her own role in the hatefest is at world class level.

Ms. Cho should probably keep her mouth shut on things she knows nothing about. During her brief appearance on DWTS she reminded me of the pillsbury dough boy dressed in drag with an oriental slant.

I agree with MarilynManson. . . I didn't watch the show this time and I know Margaret Cho can be abrasive, but Palin's little dig at the end reads at worst like a dig and at best like a stereotype about lesbians. If intentional, it's appalling.

"commonsense conservative values "

you mean like cutting taxes but not cutting government expenses? That's not commonsense OR conservative - but that IS today's Republican party.

BTW, I'd wager good money that somebody else is ghostwriting Bristol's Facebook page.

"The Palins are richer now than two years ago because they WORK!"

Really, Cletus? Please list the current productive activities (that is, "work") of each member of the Palin family.

This is choice, choice. Normally I'd never pay attention to something like this, but this was too choice to pass up.

I'm a ghostwriter (in addition to editing Transition Voice Magazine). And if there's one thing that jumps off the page higher than a salmon in spawning season it's that this Facebook note or update or whatever it was was not in any way penned by Palin the younger. "Notably absent from this calculus?" "Economy starting to falter?" The reference to KD Lang and the Indigo Girls? Pahleeze!

The first thing a good ghost writer does is capture the true "voice" of the front man (or front woman in this case). Age, education, regional influence, career, positions, not to mention the target audience are all considerations in compiling that voice.

This voice is the voice of a political strategist cum publicist/stylist who is failing to engage the critical elements of Bristol's unique personality, age, and generation in a way that is so beyond obvious that it's a joke of the highest order.

Maybe next Bristol can write an FB note or Tweet on how realpolitik is behind the d├ętente between Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie's newly tempered relations and how it presages the merging of the Tea Party and the GOP, especially after the freshman got those lobbyist checks.

The disconnect here was fabulous. But above all, the handlers behind Bristol's handlers need to make some personnel changes. After all, we're being sold on how "authentic" she is. Let's get some evidence, like, soon, okay?

Cho is just mad because they made her "dance" with a boy instead of a girl.

First time for everything!

She looked like a cement mixer out there.

If she had one, Mom would have told her to stay home. No one is going to fall in love with the Cho family because that fat lesbian witch is out there plowing around.

She'd be better off pretending to be one of the Hogs rather than trying to pass herself off as a girl.

One thing Cho will never have to worry about is having a baby.

Man, what an ugly train wreck. Only the Compost would put her on the front page.

Of course, that's the only way the sell newspapers any more. Sarah and her family need to be on there 4-5 times a day.

Can't wait until you go out of business.

Sigh - just when I thought that the political discourse in this country had gotten more civil (joking, of course) along comes this silliness.

Just hope it doesen't get much worse, or we will sound like a bunch of pre-schoolers at day care, rather than the high school freshman level of many of the remarks posted here.

People - remember, we are all one country, and whether you worship at the altar of idiocy put forth by Governor Sarah Palin, or one of those die-hard, commie loving limp wristed liberals, we should be working together.

Maybe we ALL should ignore some of these folks?

It was "Middle Finger to America" 3-4 weeks ago.

Keith Olberman the last week.

Margaret Cho this week.

Who will it be the next week?

The Grizzlies are in heat and I'd stay clear of them. The winter is coming and hopefully these mamas will go in hibernation.

Good grief,
She's as low class as her idiotic mother.
And as snarkey.

Maybe they'll have a comment on fair play and democratic (fair) voting. And third fingers, etc.
