Chichester, Potts Endorse Democrat Colgan

Two moderate Republican senators will endorse Democratic Sen. Charles H. Colgan (Prince William) at an event Thursday in Manassas.

Senate President John H. Chichester and Sen. H. Russell Potts will join several other GOP business and community leaders at an event to unveil "Republicans for Colgan."

Colgan is facing a stiff challenge from Republican Bob FitzSimmonds. Last week, the Washington Post reported that Chicheste has already donated to Colgan's campaign. In the article, Potts says he is backing Colgan because he thinks FitzSimmonds is "an extremist."

FitzSimmonds countered that Chichester and Pott's are liberals who support higher taxes.
