Webb Ready to Help Democrats Take Back Richmond

U.S. Sen. James Webb (D-Va) is urging his supporters in Virginia to mobilize for a major Democratic get-out-the-vote effort to help the party make inroads in the General Assembly.
In an email to supporters, Webb said Gov. Timothy M. Kaine (D) "needs a General Assembly that is under Democratic leadership to move Virginia forward."
"The eyes of Virginia will be on Virginia this election day," said Webb, who is trying to recruit volunteers to help get out the vote. "As the only state with significant off-year elections, a win in Virginia will send a powerful message around the nation about next year and the outcome of the 2008 elections."
Several other states, including Kentucky, are also holding state elections this year. But Webb says "the first returns for 2008 will come from Virginia in 2007."
