Parties to Choose Nominees for 1st District Election

Republicans and Democrats will meet tomorrow to pick nominees to replace U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Davis (R-Va.) in a special election Dec. 11.
Eleven Republicans will compete at their party's convention in Caroline County. Two Democrats will vie for the nomination at their party's convention in Williamsburg.
The 1st District has 448,000 registered voters in all or part of 18 counties, including Prince William and Fauquier.
The successor will serve the remaining year of Davis' term in the Republican-leaning district. Davis died Oct. 6 of breast cancer.

I think it would be a good idea for Ms Kumar to call Leslie Byrne and find out if she thinks her chances have improved for the democratic party nomination for the 11th Congressional in light of the recent victories of the democratic candidates.
