Update on Possible Recount in Cuccinelli-Oleszek

Gov. Timothy M. Kaine (D) said this afternoon he plans to consult with Democrat Janet Oleszek to discuss whether she should seek a recount in her race against Sen. Ken T. Cuccinelli II (R-Fairfax).
With all the ballots counted once, Cuccinelli holds a 94-vote lead over Oleszek. But because Cuccinelli's margin of victory is just .2 percent, Oleszek can ask for a state-funded recount.
Fairfax County election officials are currently a conducting a canvass of the all the votes that were cast yesterday. They are trying to make sure the vote totals in each precinct were counted properly and added together accurately.
After the final totals are known tomorrow or Friday, Oleszek will decide whether to ask for a recount, said Jonathan Murray, Oleszek's campaign manager.
"Fairfax is trending blue, if there are any votes to be found, we are confident they are going to go our way," Murray said.
