Armstrong's Chief of Staff Resigns

Mark Bergman, chief of staff to House Democratic Leader Ward L. Armstrong (D-Henry), is leaving to take a position in the Capitol Hill office of U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-NH).
House Caucus Policy Director Claire Wilker will take Bergman's job as chief of staff and chief spokeswoman for the House Democratic Caucus.
Wilker previously served as deputy political director of the Florida House Democratic caucus, where they picked up seven seats in 2006 and also served as Armstrong's field director in his reelection campaign in 2005.
"Mark helped the House caucus hone our message and pick up a record number of seats in 2007 and we wish him well working with Congressman Hodes," Armstrong said.
Bergman's last day is next week.
"Claire will help us move forward as we finish the legislative session and gear up for the 2009 elections where House Democrats will play for the majority," Armstrong said. "Claire's experience working in my office and helping Florida Democrats succeed will prove invaluable in the coming years."
