Van Hollen Helps Feder Raise Money

U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD.) chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, will host a reception Tuesday in support of Judy Feder, the Democratic candidate running against Rep. Frank R. Wolf (R-Va.).

The fundraiser will be held at the Potomac Maryland home of Nancy and Ira Shapiro, a lawyer who served as a trade negotiator during the Clinton administration.

The wealthy Maryland suburbs have been a steady stream of cash for Feder, who also served in the Clinton administration.

Feder has raised more than $50,000 in contributions from people who live in Potomac or Chevy Chase Maryland, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Van Hollen represents the two Montgomery County communities, which are among the wealthiest in the nation, in Congress.

Some Wolf supporters have been critical of Feder's out-of-state fundraising. Nearly three-quarters of Wolf's contributions come from Virginia while 64 percent of Feder's money comes from out-of-state, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

But Feder, who has raised about $1 million so far, will hold a fundraiser in McLean on June 30. It will be held at the home of Eileen O'Grady, according to Feder's website.

This is confusing, is she trying to represent DC or Maryland?
