Warner Wins Over FOP, Chamber of Commerce

Tim Craig

Democratic Senate Candidate Mark R. Warner was endorsed today by both the Fraternal Order of Police and the U.S. Chamber Commerce, two groups that often align with Republicans in federal races.

"Time and again, Mark Warner has proven his commitment to meeting the needs of law enforcement professionals," said Chesterfield County Fraternal Order of Police President Kevin Carroll , who also serves as the Virginia FOP's legislative chair.

The Virginia FOP represents 9,000 local, state and federal law enforcement officials. It's the first time since the group began making endorsements in 1985 that it has thrown its support behind a Democratic Senate candidate in Virginia.

In making the Chamber;'s endorsement, Bill Miller, the U.S. Chamber's senior vice president and political director, said "Warner will continue to be an effective legislator and supporter of businesses of every size if elected."
