Biden Cancels Va. Stops on Sunday; Bayh to Fill In

Sen. Joe Biden, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, has cancelled his scheduled appearances tomorrow in Roanoke and in Henrico County because of an illness in his family.
Biden's spokesman, David Wade, issued the following statement:
"The campaign has cancelled Senator Biden's schedule today and tomorrow because of a serious illness in Jill Biden's family. Hospice has advised the Bidens to remain close by, and we appreciate everyone's respect for the family's privacy," Wade said
The campaign announced this evening that Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh (D), who Obama had considered as a running mate, will fill in for Biden.

It's sad that someone would read this and think politics. Biden's family member is obviously close to passing, which is a sad time for him. Politicians are real people too, and their feelings in such times should be respected.

HillGal, your comments are incredibly insensitive and vicious.
Joe Biden is human, and he acts like one. You might have a better case calling him emotional. But your comments have no place and are way out of line.

Wishes and prayers for the Biden family.

My heart goes out to the Biden family as they move through the loss of their family member.
It's very sad that Hillgal has the need to be so hateful. I would imagine that she has never had to watch someone she loves fade away and die. Hillgal, it might benefit you to get outside yourself and do something caring for someone else.

It's sad to see the desperate flailing of Republican supporters...even trying to twist and capitalize on a very sad family situation. They don't have a clue of awareness that they're actually reinforcing the public's perception of why McCain & Palin must not be elected.
Prayers to the Biden family.

P.S. I came across an interesting non-partisan site that is currently featuring the false statements of Sarah Palin. Check out: www.FactCheckCenter.org

I want some of the uninformed, like hillgal, to know what the word "Hospice" means. When a person had no chance at life and has no quality of life, Hospice is chosen as a way to ease that person out of life. The Drs there give them every help to that end and tell each visiting family member to be sure and tell the person, whether comatose or not, that all things ARE complete and it is "OK" to go. It is hard for a family to switch from running to the E Ward with a person for, say, 2 years and then know that saving that person is no longer an option nor the purpose.
Now do you get it, Hillgal, or are you just that sorry a person?
This message was left by a Conservative that thinks Joe Biden is just a grinning jackass empty suit and my personal enemy - as is NObama, an even emptier suit.
But I think it shows that some of you democrats just have no soul...
Hospice, Hillgal... look it up...As I KNOW you don't have the sense neccessary to accept a definition from me.

Guess Joe's hair plugs need replacing. Or maybe he just needs more botox in his forehead. Well, it does have it's benefits . . .gives him something new to get all "choked up" about that isn't 30 years old.

Patty--so glad I am not related to you! Appears your parents were brother and sister. Get over yourself. Biden is just another Washington thief. One of the ones who just loaded over 100 billion dollars in pork to the "bailout". My "grief" over his pending "loss" is equal for my "grief" over the OJ conviction.
Posted by: Mirror Man | October 4, 2008 7:56 PM
Patty: ditto on that. Mirror Man, seriously? Have you ever lost a family member? Have you lost anyone close to you? That you would make this is time for a personal attack? I mean, you just have to look at your own party's nominee to see that he's old enough to be needing hospice care pretty soon. I hope that you'll at least be there for Sarah Palin when she has to step up.

Joe is taking a break to handle family concerns. Sarawinkle needs to do likewise and take care of her family litter. Kids raising kids just doesn't cut it in my opinion. When do they get their education aka booklarnin?

Yeah, I'm overwhelmed by your heart felt sadness over Biden's pending loss. I have a problem with people like Patty. They run around the internet posting things like, "check out this fabulous website I just found. . .". Problem is that they do it continuouly, for weeks on end, then feign sadness over a news article. Don't believe what I'm saying? Do a google search. There is our Patty posting endlessly. What is she being paid? Maybe a buck a post by the "messiah".
As for personal loss, I have buried both my parents and my son. But I don't need to weep on TV about it to get votes in my quest to be a star!!
Posted by: Mirror Man | October 4, 2008 8:11 PM
This one is especially for Jim. Sarah (not Sara) has a husband to help. I know this is a strange concept for a person such as yourself, having been raised without ever knowing who your father is. But there is hope for you when Obammy get 'lected and all. Just think .. .more welfare to help support your babies mama's.

Mr Mirror Man, God is watching you right now & He's sick of people like you, no heart or concern for others, you should be praying & on your knees, God has just started to truly show how fed up he is with people who don't acknowledge him. Here is a scripture that you should keep in mind, because one day you might need to remember it. 1 Peter Ch 5 Verse 6 - Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. Get your mind right before it's too late, God is given you sometime to do it. I sincerely will be praying for you!

The time is now!
To remind Americans that Barack Hussein Obama is just another politician that will do or say whatever it takes to fulfill his political ambitions. Barack is calculated and methodical about hiding his true convictions and intentions, and uses deception to get elected.
The time is now!
For Americans to remember Barack Hussein Obama’s intimate 20 year relationship with the Priest of Hate, Jeremiah Wright, who blessed Barack and Michelle marriage and baptized both their daughters. AND, to remember the hideous videos of Jeremiah Wright’s congregation which included the Obamas, damning America with bombastic joy, after the Muslim’s criminal attack on America on 9/11.
The time is now!
For Americans to remember how Barack's Priest of Hate, Jeremiah Wright used his tax-exempt church to exercise a radical political agenda, and how he refers to Israel, as well as America, as a "racist" State. Barack's religious leader, Jeremiah Wright believes that the true 'Chosen People' are the blacks; and that black values are superior to middle-class American values.
Indeed Barack's Priest of Hate, Jeremiah Wright is a black supremacist.
The time is now!
To remind Americans that Barack Hussein Obama wants to be president to implement Jeremiah Wright’s dream of a black supremacist society in America.
The time is now!
For Americans of all political parties to come together to preserve the future of the country we love and have always been proud of, by voting for a True American Patriot and War Hero who risked his life for our country:
John McCain for President of the United States of America.
Country First!
Americans for John McCain

Is this what McCain is all about?
Posted by: John | October 4, 2008 8:26 PM
Manolete: You do realize that Songbird McCain gave up the routes of his fellow airmen to get himself out of the Vietnam camps, right? That with that knowledge, the Vietnamese moved their anti-aircraft artillery and more than likely took more American lives with the use of McSame's information... ?

Hey Patty. Guess what I found. That wonderful "new" website you found links back to Obama's website. Why am I not surprised. Ain't the internet a wonderful thing!!!

Posted by: Bancroft-Hinchey | October 4, 2008 8:56 PM
Mirror Man: You are delusional. I would never take a penny to post a message. And I would have voted for McCain if it wasn't for his stupid pick of Sarah Palin. Most common-sense women that I know are embarrassed to be represented by her. Ugghh! On another note, I feel really sad for people who interact with the world like you. I really do. Name calling. False accusations. Saying things like "Appears your parents were brother and sister." If you could only imagine what other people think of these sorts of childish behaviors you would be shocked. But obviously you can't...or you wouldn't act the way you do. I remember a lecture in Psych about the mindset of bullies...and you fit the bill. When they have little substance, they resort to name calling, swearing, made-up nicknames (like your "Obammy") to compensate for their shortcomings. Mirror Man: Look in a mirror and Google some of your behaviors. Learn how the rest of the world sees you. It would be a healthy exercise.

Our prayers go out to Senator Biden's family. What a shame The Washington Post and other media outlets allow this and doesn't filter unnecessary, inappropriate negative comments. It is definitely not the time nor place for it. Lord, please forgive them.

Bancroft-Hinchley, *WE* are not "supposed to be grieving" at all. But if we are worth our salt as human beings, we will feel some compassion and identification with anyone struggling with the impending death of a family member. We all get there sooner or later. Surely this is something that transcends political affiliation!
Posted by: Anonymous | October 4, 2008 9:19 PM

Patty so you do your shilling free of charge huh? That's very white of you.
Oh, and you are one of the millions of Republican and Independent women who have switched to Obama because of Palin. Do you really think anyone believes that? As for my reference to your parents, well, that's what happens when you call people jerks. How's that for a lesson learned? And I am just super impressed that you managed to take a psychology class before you dropped out of college. Did you pass?
As for how the world views me, I could care less. Live with it, or not, it's your choice. But then I don't pretend to be something I am not. Why don't you Google something about people who participate in that behavior, hmmm?

I think it is just as wrong to ASSUME that "Hillgal" or anyone else like her, is Republican or represent the Republicans as it is to ASSUME that everyone that makes sensable statements MUST BE Democrates.
This election is to serious to be so ridiculously distrated. The mere fact that reporters open "this sort of article" up for comment but yet others of serious nature that effect AMERICA they seem to open up less.
Reporting news (the truth) used to be an honorable occupation. What does your or my opinion amount to over the fact that there is an impending death of a family member of a man running for Vice President (no matter the party they belong)? The only thing I see is that it shows the morons in America...which sadly shows their lack of up bringing.
Posted by: Crockett | October 4, 2008 9:36 PM
You Americans are beyond belief. You mock and spit at the death of someone while waging wars around the world, killing millions of women and babies. But the voices of protest are rising up!! You Yanks astound me. Death is a natural part of life. Your whole country is mourning over the potential passing of a single individual. Meanwhile, people across the globe are suffering and living in squalor. For example, the people of India still defecate in the Ganges and swim in the human waste. What a sad, dismal commentary on your society.

News Flash: You ALL suck! ALL politicians are "empty suits," dig??? It sickens me to see how members of the American public continue to argue this candidate over that one. There is ONE problem and ONE problem only that plagues this country and you'll never hear a politician say it because it's very bad for votes: the vast majority of Americans are weak and useless, lazy, cowardly fools with no depth of thought or being who are swayed by the most vacuous of platitudes. Even in their supposedly deepest, most thoughtful moments they demonstrate a shallow and childish state of being. That, you fools, is why we have no worthwhile leaders and why every politician is nothing more than a vile manipulator - because that's all they need to be. The people at the top realize that "the people" are an easily misled collection of worms and that's why the country is going down the tubes and why politics is such a sickening affair. It's all YOUR fault, people - YOU "people" are what's bad about America. Look at yourselves and your families with a clear eye and you will see that this is true. Now go back to your superstitions and your other drugs and distractions and whine a little bit more about how all the bad crap is somewhere out there in the world, totally ignoring the vile crap that exists in your own lives and selves.

I do not blindly fall in line lock step with the GOP, and mccain has his flaws. but between the 2 candidates, barack has too many questionable relationships. too many to be a coincidence. I'm a McCain-Palin supporter, and I don't like Joe Biden's politics or his political style. But he has all my sympathies during this hard time for him and his family. I hope that whoever he's fearing for recovers quickly, and that he can be back to join in the national discussion on the issues we face. However, if that doesn't happen, then I hope that he finds solace and fortitude in this time of ordeal. Biden's a politician, but he's human too like all of us. Some of us sometimes forget that about politicians. Sometimes the press and the entertainment industry go too far, and they don't realize that politicians have feelings too.

Good grief, it's obvious the Dems don't want the Gaffemaster out there with his idiotic pronouncements, such as claiming Franklin Roosevelt making TV speech in 1929 with, so he's been removed from any possibility of making his daily slip of the tongue.
Even the biased media is grudgingly, at tortoise-pace, admitting he can't distinguish truth from fantasy.
The one I like, but no one caught, was his statement last week that he was in Tbilisi (Georgia) when the "Russia tanks came in."
Hello, Russia never came within 20 miles of Tbilisi.

Because of the recent erratic behavior of McCain actions like suspending a campaign have automatically become suspect.
Unlike McCain, it's not in Biden's dna to pull such a lame stunt.
This just serves to reinforce the difference between Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin. When it comes to caring about people they don't just talk the talk they walk the walk. People first, campaign last.

IF WE CAnnot have Biden as v.p. for LETS GET HILLARY BACK WHERE SHE BELONGS!!! ITWOULD NOT BE A SURPRISE IF BIDEN EXCUSES HIMSELF, BECAUSE OF ILLNESS IN FAMILY. BIDEN HAS ALWAYS BEEN A FAMILY MAN AND THE DEMS WOULD SURELY BE RIGHT UP THERE ON THE TOP SHELF WITH HILLARY. I WOULD BETCHA (AS THE SP PHRASE GOES) IT WOULD BE AN INTERESTING AND FRUITFUL COMPETITION FOR THE DEMS.
SEEMS AS THOUGH SP HAS NOTHING GOOD TO INFORMATIVE TO SAY ABOUT HERSELF SO SHE IS NOW GOING TO RUN, NOT ONLY ON HER IGNORANCE, BUT ON LOW DOWN DIRTY REMARKS.
STRICTLY "SHOT AND BEER" MENTALLITY. CERTAINLY NOT WHAT WE WOULD EXPECT TO HEAR FROM A PERSON WHO NOT ONLY CANNOT TAKE CARE OF HER OWN FAMILY AFFAIRS BUT WANTS US TO BELIEVE SHE CAN HELP THE FAMILIES OF THE USA. Compassion knows no race or political belief. Please, make use of it. There are other forums to voice your viewpoints.
My thoughts are with Mr. Biden and his family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Biden family.
I hope it is a political manuever and not something as serious as it sounds.
Though "a medical emergency" has been predicted by many for at least a month as a way for Obama to get a redo on his poor choice of VP. And as late as Oct. 1st, rumors were that Binden would be replaced between the 5th and the 10th of October as the "October surprise". That, and not the "heartlessness" of Republicans, is why you see so many bringing politics into this sad turn of events. If it does turn out to be a political stunt, I hope those of you that are quick to condem the Republicans will just as quickly condem the Dems for such filthy tactics.
Again, my thoughts and prayers go out to the Binden family and the unnamed person whose health is failing. If recovery is possible, may God grant it swiftly. And may his/her suffering end quickly if indeed all hope is lost. And may God grant a peace to all of his/her loved ones in this troubled time.

I guess when we are about to vote the CEO of living universe and his many replacements into the office, we need to make peace with the many personal faces that will come along the way.
Since replacements seem to come abound, a glimpse at the line of "applies to" would be nice to have.
What if by some clerical mistake the replacements come from the "other end"? I would really hate a surprise, hence the complete line of "fill - ins" would be appreciated.
