GOPAC Lends McDonnell a Hand

Anita Kumar

GOPAC, a national organization dedicated to electing Republicans to state and local office, launched its first ever multi-media campaign to support Republican gubernatorial nominee Robert F. McDonnell.

The campaign will air cable TV ads and run ads online using Google search engine advertising, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and other media.

"There is no candidate in the country more important to GOPAC than Bob McDonnell as he campaigns to serve as Virginia's next governor," Chairman Frank Donatelli said. "He personifies GOPAC's belief that good candidates with good ideas run winning campaigns. GOPAC is fully supportive of Bob McDonnell's candidacy."

The first ad, running on cable TV in Northern Virginia and Richmond, began today, but will be brief. Donatelli declined to release the total amount of money to be spent on the campaign.

Democrats were quick to react to GOPAC's decision to help McDonnell.

"This is a desperate attempt by Bob McDonnell and his far-right buddies to change the topic in Virginia,'' said Jared Leopold, a spokesman for the Democratic party. "For more than a week McDonnell has failed to stand up for Virginia's workers and support $125 million in federal funds to stimulate Virginia's economy. A web ad full of platitudes isn't going to change the fact that Bob McDonnell failed to stand up for Virginians."

This is great! Repugnicans spending big bucks on McDonnell when he doesn't have a snowball's chance. After all, he's only spouting the old tired and failed Repugnican wish list.

GOPAC, spend every dollar you can get your hands on!!

Oh sure he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell, yet all the other candidates are worse or even more notorious then him. Mcaulliffe with his capitalizing on shareholders of Global Crossing before the company declares the biggest company bankruptcy in history. Then their is the consultant on his team that mocked BO's middle name Hussein, real pleasant fellow you get the picture. Let us not forget to mention Brian Moran and his brother and their Defense companies money donations yet their is nothing illegal or odd about that. I wonder if Brian hates Jews like his older brother.

Hahaha. Did you actually bother to look at the timeline of McAuliffe's involvement? You can't predict a bankruptcy and come out ahead three years in advance before the company ACTUALLY goes bankrupt and, for those three years, not see any liquidation occurring. You're just creating a lie to disparage a candidate; it's really unsavory. Please stop; it's destroying America.

I just hope for your sake that you have solid proof of your assertions of criminal misconduct.

By the way, look into McDonnell's work as Attorney General regarding nuclear regulation; his attempts to purposefully impede federal law by assuming deregulation stances already proven inconsistent with Virginia and federal law has cost the state TONS of money. In fact, it's a lot of money that could be going toward creating advanced opportunities for learning in our state in educational settings and also creating more jobs.

Let's remember who started GOPAC, Newt "Contract on America" Gingrich and who recently ran it, Michael "Drill, Baby, Drill" Steele.

If this is who Bob McDonnell hangs around with, so be it, but this certainly reinforces my belief that Bob McDonnell is a right wing extremist who is an extremely risky choice for Virginia.

I also want everyone to note the oil rig in that ad. GOP and Democratic governors from states up and down the east coast, as well as the Navy and NASA are against offshoring drilling, McDonnell isn't.

While he gives us environmental platitudes on Earth Day, McDonnell's trying to pull a fast one on all Virginians who make their living on the coast.

Here's my take on why this is wrong and frankly, not consistant with the Christian faith McDonnell is so proud of.
