Plotkin Disses McAuliffe

Anita Kumar

Just what did Terry McAuliffe do to Mark Plotkin?

Plotkin blasted McAuliffe on WTOP radio this morning as part of a scathing commentary in which he urged Virginains to vote for Brian Moran or Creigh Deeds and not -- under any circumstances -- McAuliffe.

He slammed McAuliffe for his lack of ties to Virginia, his interest in fundraising and his "exaggerations." He ended simply with this line:

"The Democratic primary for governor is Tuesday, June 9. Brian Moran and Creigh Deeds are qualified to be governor. Terry McAuliffe is not."

Plotkin has been miffed since McAuliffe canceled his appearance on his radio show a couple weeks ago. He was the only one of the three candidates who did not appear.

McAuiffe's spokeswoman Elisabeth Smith's only reaction today was this: "Terry has the record of creating thousands of jobs and turning around struggling businesses. That's the record that Virginias are looking for in their next governor.''

Check out the full transcript below:

"Brian Moran and Creigh Deeds have clearly demonstrated their committment by legislative careers that are substantive and serious. Terry McAuliffe has demonstrated that he can raise money."

"Brian Moran and Creigh Deeds have traveled the state for years and know the people of Virginia. Terry McAuliffe has never been associated with Virginia in any meaningful way."

"Brian Moran and Creigh Deeds don't exaggerate or brag. They both have a persona that radiates a good deal of humility and have been endorsed by numerous elected officials who vow for their credibility and ability. Terry McAuliffe has no record and has described himself in his own autobiography as a hustler."

"The Democratic primary for governor is Tuesday, June 9. Brian Moran and Creigh Deeds are qualified to be governor. Terry McAuliffe is not."

Plotkin is about as clueless about VA politics as it is possible to be. But, like a broken clock, he's correct twice a day. Well, almost correct. Deeds is the better candidate, and more likely to win a state-wide election. Moran can win Norther Virnia, but not the whole state. McAuliff hasn't paid his VA dues.

One doesn't need to "pay Va dues" to run for any office. Get a clue - both IrishRose and Plotkin. Deeds has no chance. I hope you and the rest of his supporters fall in line come June 10th.

Plotkin is an idiot and has no idea of what he is talking about. He'll be sorry come June 10th.

Who is this Plotkin guy? A local radio jockey with little or no listeners? My IPOD and NPR have my attention. Is this news to print in the Washington Post? Is the Washington Post pimping for WTOP? The Washington Post might consider addressing the Richmond endorsement Terry McAuliffe received today. Far more credible than Plotkin's rant. Last I checked gubernatorial candidates' schedules are not controlled by local radio jocks. What about the diversity event Terry McAuliffe held last evening? That's news. Or the great reception Terry McAuliffe received at the Falls Church Memorial Day parade, the Vienna event and on and on. That’s news.

I'm sorry, but who is Plotkin? What qualifications does Plotkin have that make his opinion worth reporting in the newspaper? And since when does the Washington Post report what spurned disk jockies say on the air?

I guess in the wake of everyone elevating Limbaugh to the heights of party leadership, anyone with a mike and a little air time actually gets to claim they have a little authority.

Who is Mark Plotkin and why is he saying these things? All Plotkin does is cover politics in DC and it's Maryland and Virginia suburbs. It's his job. He's done it for years and more or less knows what he's talking about. Terry McAuliffe is not a monster or gross imcompetent, but he has exaggerated his accomplishments on many occasions and in his campaign literature. Even when called on it he continues to perpetuate the fibs. Virginia doesn't need a governor who is all talk and no substance. If nominated by the primary and elected in November, McAuliffe will keep Democratic Party control of the Governor's Mansion but the General Assembly will "school" him like he's never been "schooled" before. This is something he has never understood in this campaign. Moran and Deeds do understand and either man can work with the legislature. Virginia's problems can't be put on hold for 4 years.

Who in the world is Mark Plotkin?

Plotkin, Smotkin, just another right winged hack, attempting to sway the uninformed and unenlightened, grinding his own axe. While the single mothers making over $5,500 a year can't get medicade in Virginia. While 50% of our underpaid teachers go to neiboring states within 2 years, because of better wages. While the "Good Ole Boys" network is going to let Virginia lose all of it's Federal Highway Funds to help fix it's almost 30% of unsafe bridges. While the 7th highest Federal tax contributing state gets far less than it puts in. Let us listen to you settle a personal score. The Government in Richmond has under delivered and it is time the citizens of this great state send Richmond a message. One canidate of these very fine men, and Virginia has 3 great Democratic canidates, is the one that has done more for the Democratic Party and Democrats than anyone in 30 years. Let alone can take on the Natoinal Republican Party, which will be throwing the kitchen sink, including henchmen like Plotkin to do their dirtywork, here in the commonwealth. People, do not be fooled again, Terry McAuliffe can and will shake Richmond up, it needs it bad, and do not let Republican scumbags like Plotkin change the subject.
