Democratic Governors Association Head Picks McAuliffe
Post political blogger Chris Cillizza, aka The Fix, reports a big endorsement for Terry McAuliffe today:
"Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer, the chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, will endorse former Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe's (Va.) gubernatorial primary bid tomorrow in northern Virginia, according to sources familiar with the move.
"Schweitzer will throw his support to McAulliffe tomorrow morning in Arlington and then the two will travel together to events in Richmond and Charlottesville. The endorsement comes just three days before Virginia Democrats head to the polls to choose between McAuliffe, state Sen. Creigh Deeds and former state Del. Brian Moran as their party's nominee for governor. Former state attorney general Bob McDonnell is the GOP nominee.
"Schweitzer's endorsement is in his capacity as governor of Montana not as chairman of the DGA, according to knowledgeable sources, but the practical effect is the same.
"Neither Schweitzer nor the McAuliffe campaign returned a call seeking comment."
