Two Views Near Route 29

At Fair Hill Elementary off Route 29 near Fairfax City poll workers said 97 people had voted as of 11 a.m. without a hitch. Here are two:

Vinny Monacella, 83, said he voted for Creigh Deeds. It was an easy decision, he said. "He's been a politician for a long time, in a rural district and he hasn't been afraid to vote for issues that were important to Northern Virginia," he said. The one issue that stuck out in his mind: transportation. "That takes guts, because sometimes he wasn't voting for his own interests. He voted for the gas tax. I'm sure a lot of people in his district didn't like that, but he did it anyway, because it was the right thing to do. I like that."

Miriam Wimberly, 73, said she voted for Terry McAuliffe. She was in and out in 5 minutes she was so sure. "He has the best stance on the environment, conservation issues," she said. "I like his stances on using wind power and connecting that with creating jobs."
