AFSCME Drops Another $400K on Deeds

This will brighten Democrat Creigh Deeds fund-raising report for the month: the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees yesterday donated another $400,000 to Deeds' campaign.
The national union was already one of Deeds' largest donors, along with the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Governors Association, giving him $500,000 in June.
The Republicans will surely use the donation to continue a campaign against Deeds for accepting money from big national unions. But $400,000 is nothing to sneeze at--it almost buys you a week on television in pricey Northern Virginia.

What are the unions trying to buy in this election? What has Deeds promised them he would do as Governor to get this much support? Does he support raising the minimum wage above the federal level and putting Virginia at a competative disadvantage? Does he support taking away the secret ballot? Does he support binding arbitration? Obviously these are priorities for the unions so Deeds has promised them something. Maybe he'll make John Sweeney his Labor Secretary.
