Rep. Joe Wilson Helps Va. GOP. No Lie!

Rosalind Helderman

It turns out U.S. Rep. Joe "You Lie!" Wilson has some interest in Virginia politics. Wilson e-mailed a fundraiser appeal Tuesday on behalf of the Dominion Leadership Trust political action committee, the PAC organized by House Speaker Bill Howell in 2002 to support Republicans in the Virginia House of Delegates.

The South Carolina congressman encourages recipients to contribute to the PAC to keep a Republican majority in the House, to counter union money and national support from liberal groups including ACORN and to "send a message to the national Democrats -- Americans won't put up with your big government agenda."

It's worth noting that Republican gubernatorial candidate Robert F. McDonnell has condemned Wilson's outburst during President Obama's speech to a joint session of Congress, citing it as an example of the lack of civility now invading public life.

UPDATE: Eric Dell, Wilson's chief of staff, says the congressman sent the e-mail after Howell's office called and asked for his help. "They contacted us on this. The congressman said he'd be happy to help," Dell said.

You can read Wilson's whole e-mail after the jump.

Here's the e-mail:

Dear Friends,

Please contribute today to keep a Republican majority in the Virginia House.

In the last two weeks, I have learned what it's like to be the No. 1 target of liberal Democrats across the nation. After the President's address to Congress, liberal activists and bloggers raised over one million dollars for my opponent -- in an election that's over a year away.

Virginia House Speaker Bill Howell knows what it's like to be a target too. Virginia is one of only two states with an election this year -- in just a month and a half -- so he and his House Republican colleagues need your help today .

Big liberal money from outside Virginia has flowed into House Democrat coffers because the Republican majority in the Virginia House has been the only firewall between Virginia citizens and the tax-and-spend agenda of a Democratic Governor and state Senate.

Governor Tim Kaine, who spends half his time pushing a liberal agenda in Richmond and the other half as chairman of the Democratic National Committee, has already committed one million dollars from the DNC treasury to House Democrats (that's on top of the $5 million he's already committed to statewide candidates).

And it's not just Tim Kaine--his liberal allies, like ACORN and labor unions, will swarm Virginia in the run-up to November's Election. In fact, Big Labor has already contributed 2.75 million dollars to Virginia Democrats (over $750,000 just for House Democrats). Will you contribute to Bill's Dominion Leadership Trust PAC today to help him counter all of this out-of-state money?

The stakes have never been higher. Congressional districts will be redrawn by the Virginia House elected this year, and a Republican majority there will help elect more Republicans to the U.S. Congress.

A big win for Bill and the House Republicans this November will send a message to the national Democrats -- Americans won't put up with your big government agenda. And it will rally our Republicans around the country for the Federal elections in 2010.

This is VERY sad and proves that the Republican agenda is MONEY only!!!!! The neo-cons do not care about anyone else except themselves as is CLEARLY depicted in this e-mail. ME, ME, HATE, LIES, HATE, THEFT, OPRESSION, DESTRUCTION OF THE USA, NO JOBS, TREASON, MORE HATE, MORE LIES, ATTACKING THEIR OPPONANT WITH MORE LIES AND HATE, THEFT, MORE THEFT, DOING ANYTHING AT ANY COST TO THEIR CONSTITUENTS TO GET WHAT THEY WANT, CORRUPTION AND MORE HATE.

If you want to get out of the DARK AGES then DEEDS is your CANDIDATE!

If you want to stay in the dark ages, have to adhere to the neo-con ways of life which DOES NOT INCLUDE YOUR BEST INTERESTS AND WELLBEING, then vote McDonnel.

Where have the Republicans gotten us in 8-yrs of rule? JOB LOSS, NO HEALTHCARE, Total DESTRUCTION of our ECONOMY, Taliban type rule, THEFT, CORRUPTION, HATE, WAR, GOLDEN PARACHUTES FOR THE WEALTHY ELITE, AND POVERTY. IT was the Bush Administration that flew the Bin Laden family and other Middle Eastern Leaders out of the country to protect them on 9/11.
How much MORE MONEY DO THEY NEED? WHAT ABOUT WE THE PEOPLE????????????????
