Bryant latest to join McGuire Woods
McGuire Woods is ramping up.
First, the giant lobbying and law firm hired former Attorney General Jerry Kilgore and Christopher Nolen, former chief counsel to the attorney general.
Now, word has come down that Preston Bryant, secretary of natural resources to Gov. Tim Kaine and a former Republican legislator, will join the firm after he leaves the governor's office Saturday.
Bryant will work primarily in the area of economic development, sources tell us.
Kilgore started work today as a senior adviser, working with state attorneys general, governors and other officials outside Virginia. Nolen is a senior vice president for state government relations, assisting clients with Virginia lobbying efforts and regulatory issues.
The giant firm has close ties to Republican Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell. Nolen replaces Eric Finkbeiner, who will become a senior adviser for policy to McDonnell.
Kilgore and Nolen came from Williams Mullen, another lobbying and law firm with an office in Richmond.
In recent days, Williams Mullen has also lost its government affairs director, Terrie Suit, who was named McDonnell's assistant to the governor for commonwealth preparedness.
Also, Attorney General-elect Ken Cuccinelli hired Williams Mullen partner Chuck James Jr. as his chief deputy.
