Cuccinelli to attend D.C. gay pride festival -- sort of

Anita Kumar

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli will be the special guest at the Capital Pride Festival this weekend -- only he doesn't know it yet.

The Virginia Partisans, a gay rights group with thousands of members in the state, will ask parade attendees to "kiss" a life-size cutout of the controversial attorney general in an event they are affectionately calling "Smooches for Cooch."

P6100750.JPG

The group will send a collection of photos of people kissing Cuccinelli to the attorney general along with the message that Virginia is for all lovers. The same motto will appear on stickers and banners at the group's booth along the Pennsylvania Avenue parade route Sunday.

Cuccinelli, who advised public colleges that they could not legally prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, has called the practice of homosexuality "a detriment to our culture" and "wrong."

The Partisans hope Cuccinelli will be just the draw they need to recruit members. The group considered a petition drive, but abandoned it because members thought it was too passé.

"We're sending our love to Ken Cuccinelli,'' said Terry Mansberger, president of the Virginia Partisans. "He's the gift that keeps on giving."

A spokesman for Cuccinelli had no comment.

LOL!! Great job. Cuccinelli will subpoena the receipts for making that cardboard life size of him.

Homophobia is intolerance which gives no benefit. It's terrible that Cuccinelli is Attorney General but I'm glad I voted for his opponent. He's an intolerant person when it comes to LGBT people, thus he can't go beyond saying stupid comments about LGBT people because he doesn't understand sexual orientation and gender identity However, the Capital Pride Festival is doing a good thing by letting people kiss a life size cut out of Cuccinelli with those pictures being sent to his real self.

Ha! You can't reason with him, he won't change his mind, and we're stuck with him for three more years, so why the heck not?

In just a few short months, Cuchinelli has swung into action like some sort of Mad Hatter, rushing onto the scene to tend to emergencies that he himself creates just so he might stamp his Doc Martens onto the necks of those who are, by and large, just minding their own business. Calling him a "homophobe" is too kind; this man is malignant.

I am confident Ken Cuccinelli will go the way of Ted Haggard and Christian right leader George Rekers and countless others. To be such a GOP homophobic must mean he is actually a closet homosexual.

Leave it to homosexuals to figure out how to degrade and demean our politicians without even touching on the issues. There's no other way to describe it: it's just so gay.

Cuccinelli may be a well-educated idiot who is doing his own causes a disservice. Still, he's a man with a family. Did any of you self-righteous stormtroopers stop to think how pics of throngs of homosexuals stop to think how pics of you tonguing his likeness might impact his wife and children? No, of course not. You're too self-absorbed in your own homosexuality to consider how your actions might impact the non-homosexuals.

Gay Pride day in general, and this stoopid publicity stunt in particular, is one more reason for me and my family to shun Washington, DC. Do you hear that DC merchants?

Yo Stalin:

I don't think D.C. will miss your money, anyway. You sound like a cheap tightwad who just happens to be a homophobe, so it's not like you weren't going to spend much.

Kookinelli brought all of this on himself. I think his family is the one that needs to take a look around and see what kind of nut he is and calm him down.

Posted by: Randy_Hawkins | June 12, 2010 10:15 AM | Report abuse

The State should take Kookinelli's children from him and, possibly, his wife. By his example alone, he is teaching his own and other of Virginia's children to hate and to judge. This is child abuse. He will leave his position, either shortly or in 3 years, an outcast forever. His name will haunt and embarrass his children long after he is gone.

They have to call it gay "pride", so as to recast the natural human sight of their sin. Otherwise they wouldn't have to tell you that they are proud, because it would be understood. But it isn't.

How is this helping a starving child in Africa? How is this helping a homeless veteran? How is this helping the human slave trade in Eastern Europe? Of all the global issues and afflications that exist today, they choose to use their energies to promote their own selfish causes... utterly disgraceful.

JoStalin:
Did the AG ever stop to think what effect his hateful remarks would have on the gay citizens of the state, who have rights just as others do? What about the effect this might have on one of his own children if they might themselves be gay?
Gatecrasher:
Civil rights are not a selfish cause. Wait until they try to take away some of your rights, then you will be the one screaming.

This is the sort of prank that causes voters to become offended by Gay/Lesbian activists. What's funny about it? Well, the humor is that gay men are going to kiss the picture of a man and neither the man nor anyone else can do anything to stop them. It is the gay community's intent to offend others, and so it does.

he needs to stop wasting taxpayer dollars on this, and the political witch-hunt against the professor working on global warming. what a disgrace.

Really, dear? Don't tell me you're gay. If you are then you must be one of those suit and tie HRC types who think it's all about adopting hetero tropes, getting married, having your little "place at the table," you know, fitting in. ACHHHH!

You don't understand what "gay" means at all.

I really hate the word, "homophobe." It sounds like someone is wrong, and they are not. In your face gay s**t gets old; why cannot such people accept the fact they are biologically doing things wrong?

I recommend that Equality Virgina add a second cardboard cutout of Ken Cuccinelli for those who prefer to simply spit in his face.

You probably should hate that word since it was coined to describe people like you, an apparent self-appointed Doctor of Philosophy in biology who is the final arbiter of all things right and wrong with regard to human sexuality. You probably don't "believe" in evolution, but don't you think this "behavior" would have evolved out of the human population if it were truly genetically self-destructive -- "biologically wrong" in your erudite parlance? Gays can't have kids, after all. Yet hoosexuality has been around for as long as the human species. Makes one wonder what happened to all that prayer the god hates fags people have been slinging our way, no?

No one dislikes Cuccinelli more than I do, but this is just juvenile. The great civil rights leaders of the 60s didn't put an end to segregation and Jim Crow by kissing photos of George Wallace.

If the gay rights movement wants to be taken seriously, they need to look back to the history of other civil rights movements, abroad as well as in the US (think Ghandi and Mandela). What do all these people have in common? They behaved with dignity, and in doing so commanded that others treat them with respect.

People are so disconnected from reality that they think this actually *means* something.

It reminds me of when people see an issue they need to address, they.... Start a facebook petition.

It's like they don't understand that it has no meaning. It reminds me of children in a sandbox pretending to be adults and playing house. No, that's not fair. The kids know they're pretending.

"...the practice of homosexuality..."

How funny. Some of us aren't practicing anymore because, hey, we got it right!

If you don't like gay sex, don't engage in it. Otherwise, as long as it's between consenting adults, it is none of anyone's business.

Do you think the pervert population has figured out yet why so many perverts have died in the last forty years? It really seems they haven't, because they are still dying. And they've been doing it each other all along.

Whatever this crowd wants to do to Cuccinelli won't matter in the long run, but what they do to each other will eventually matter much more.

Being homo might possibly be OK, but it's pathological to think that by manner of life it's worth dying for.

Cuchinelli - Juswt another republican hater. It had become unfashionable to hate blacks so now they have a new group to hate, in the name of God no less.

While by the way some in his party compare our first black president to Hitler and stalin. The Mental illness of the republcian party leadership is clear to see.

And
quote below
"

This world is just crazy. The Sodomites are expressing intolerance of someone who they dislike because if his intolerance of them.

endquote
------------------------

The true story of Soddom was about inhospitality to strangers - raping them instead of taking them into ones home -Hospitality to strangers is a central tenant of all desert dwellers, who know the sun tries to kill all people.

But we see in comments like Just Annes above the true perversion of everything Jesus told us in his second commandment - "love thy neighbor as thyself".

It is the "Just Annes" of the world, and similar people who are punching their own ticket to hell, by denying the humanity of another of Gods's creations - the gay people.

We - my wife and I - have many gay friends, and love them all. They are great people, denigrated by some catholics, and in particular the same protestants who still long for the days of segregation and the KKK.

Those people are sick. And their interest in what goes on in other peoples bedrooms shows that they fit perfectly the meaning of a word that begins with P, ends with t, and has a v in the middle.

and to Just anne, Jo Stalin (notice who his mentor is) and their likes:

Its 10:20 Am, and were off to the DC gay pride festival. Not to the church we belonged to until we realized the monstrosity it has become. the church whose german leader is implicated in the cover up of of the rape of children in a dozen countries, and still counting. The pope who in 2009 UNexcommunicated a holocaust denier, a Bishop williamson, to bring williamsons 600000 mad followers back into the church. For their money.

A leader who also told Africans to not use condoms - in a continent where 23 million people are infected with AIDS, and babies are born with a death sentence over their heads.

The man is evil - possessed of the devil himself. No wonder virtually every last country in western Europe now has gay marriage or an equivalent, while the catholic churches are near empty.

And lets remember - he learned his lessons growing up in the 1930s in germany.

But in a sense RATZInger is a blessing from God. His extremism is teaching tens of millions of cAtholics and others about how corrupt the vatican has become.

Keep your money, and find a good church that is true to Jesus 2nd of only two commandments - Love thy neighbor as thyself.

Caught in a vicious circle where you come up with gay ideas that make you even more gay, generating more gay ideas. Try being normal and see where it takes you. You'll probably discover that life has a lot more to offer.
