McDonnell names Diana Cantor head of Virginia Retirement System board

We're five months into the new administration and the appointments are still coming.

Today, Gov. Bob McDonnell announced that he has named Diana Cantor, the former head of the state's college savings plan, the new chairwoman of the board of trustees of the Virginia Retirement System.

Cantor, who holds an MBA and a law degree, was managing director of New York Private Bank & Trust and vice president at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York. She is the wife of U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor.

Cantor's appointment to the board in April was met with some criticism from a fellow trustee, so you can expect some this time around, too.

McDonnell also announced that he named Aaron Mathes, former chief information officer and information security officer in the attorney general's office, as deputy technology secretary.
