Md.'s O'Malley to keynote Va. political event
John Wagner reports on the Maryland Politics blog that Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley (D) will cross the Potomac next month to serve as the keynote speaker at an annual party dinner for Virginia Democrats.
O'Malley, whose national profile has been on the rise since his Nov. 2 reelection, has been booked for the 2011 Jefferson Jackson Dinner in Richmond, Brian Coy, a spokesman for the Virginia Democrats, confirmed.
Coy said O'Malley was attractive as a speaker for the Feb. 19 dinner both because of his decisive reelection in a tough year for Democrats and his recent ascendancy to the chairmanship of the Democratic Governors Association.
