Averill to lead Americans for Prosperity's Virginia office

Americans for Prosperity, a group that supports a free market, low taxes and transparency in government, has hired longtime Republican activist Trixie Averill as its new state director.

Averill, the party's Sixth Congressional District chairwoman who serves on its Republican State Central Committee, replaces Ben Marchi, who left the organization Sunday after three years.

"Averill has played an influential role in Virginia's conservative turnaround," Marchi said. "She's a great example of how conservatives can be community organizers too."

Averill is well known -- volunteering on campaigns, lobbying for various consulting firms and serving on community boards, including the Virginia Tourism Corporation.

"Virginia has the potential to be one of the most economically competitive states in the country," Averill said. "The Virginia chapter of Americans for Prosperity is ready to organize its members to urge the governor and legislature to rein in wasteful spending and get a hold of the state's unsustainable budget."

Averill has notified the Republican Party of Virginia that she plans to step down from her party position on April 5.

Hey, Anita, you failed to mention American's for Prosperity are anti American organization run by the Koch brothers to influence politicians so they can game the system even further and reduce workers wages and benefits.

Please, for the sake of humanity, don't act a press release for these creeps.

If they were, as you put it for free market, why would they be anti union. Unions are a result of workers acting in a free market way. Eliminating unions is NOT free market. And, low taxes are only so they can starve the system. They don't give a dang about anyone not earning enough to have a decent life style. And transparency in government? Give me a break. They're entire organization is a big deceiving lie. They aren't grass roots. They are corporate funded and they are out to destroy the middle class.

Please, pretty please, with sugar on top. Spare this blog the indecency of these anti American orgs. I'm not sure who's feeding you this garbage but if you want to know more about American's for Prosperity and what they truly stand for, check out Alternet or ThinkProgress. They've both done extensive work on how American's for Prosperity is out to destroy the American way of life for personal gain.
