Teleworking Update
Steve Barr writes in his Federal Diary column that 6.6 percent of the federal workforce is now regularly working remotely by computer, according to this new report by the Office of Personnel Management.
Steve says the recent run-up in gas prices has prompted a new round of interest in at-home work programs, though any growth in the program may be slowed by what the OPM calls "organizational culture" -- management resistance and computer security concerns.
