Feds Offer Grants To Help With Base Closures
The Department of Labor is handing out $20 million in grants, much of it to the Washington area, to help workers affected by the government's decision to relocate various military operations around the country. Virginia will receive nearly $5 million, Maryland $4 million and the District $1 million.
"Civilian workers at those bases will be provided employment services to help them find new jobs in high-growth industries," Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao said in a statement.
