Sandy Spring Bancorp of Olney says Joseph J. O'Brien Jr. will take over as executive vice president for the Potomac bank division when Larry Warren, former CEO of Potomac Bank of Virginia, retires at year end.

IN REFERENCE TO YOUR "GIANTHINT" WHICH APPEARED IN THE POST ON MONDAY JULY 23,2007 ON PAGE D3, I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT GIANT FOOD WAS IN FACT FOUNDED BY TWO FAMILIES. IT WAS CO-FOUNDED BY THE COHEN FAMILY AND THE LEHRMAN FAMILY. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT IT IS STILL OWNED BY ROYAL AHOLD AND THAT ARTICLE WAS SOME HOW MISLEADING IN THAT ONE COULD INTERPRET SAME AS MR. ORDAN HAS PURCHASED THE COMPANY. AS WE ALL KNOW THIS IS NOT THE CASE.

THANK YOU FOR ALL FUTURE REFERENCES TO THE FOUNDING OF GIANT FOOD BY TWO FAMILIES
