Rockville Forensic Accounting Firm Agrees To Sale

The Center for Financial Research & Analysis, the Rockville forensics accounting firm founded by former AU professor Howard Schilit, is being bought by RiskMetrics, the same firm that snapped up another Rockville advisory firm, Institutional Investor Services, in 2006.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. RiskMetrics said it will merge CFRA with ISS, which rates the quality of corporate governance and advises investors on such questions as whether to reelect a particular director or approve a hostile takeover.

Schilit sold a majority stake in CFRA for about $60 million back in 2003.
