Former N.C. Chief Justice Takes on Bullet Case
A North Carolina man convicted of murder based in part on now-discredited FBI testimony is taking his case to the state's Supreme Court, with the help of the former chief justice, I. Beverly Lake Jr. The case of Lee Wayne Hunt was detailed in a joint Washington Post-60 Minutes investigation last week. Lake said he decided to take Hunt's case after learning that the FBI's reliance on bullet-lead analysis had since been abandoned. The FBI did not notify defendants after it quit using the technique in 2005.
