Like-Minded Advocates
Over on another Washington Post blog, Government Inc., Robert O'Harrow is raising some interesting questions about the relationship between a nonpartisan advocacy group and Northrup Grumman. The group, Citizens Against Government Waste, has declared its support for a new independent coalition that supports the Pentagon's controversial decision to award the $40 billion Air Force fuel tanker contract to Northrop Grumman and its partner, European Aeronautic Defence and Space -- instead of to Boeing. It turns out that the "talking points" being distributed by the advocacy group track almost word for word with a press release from Northrup. Citizens Against Government Waste says it has a long independent track record on the issue. "We are not promoting anyone's interests," a spokeswoman for the group tells O'Harrow.

Unfortunately I believe that we are limited in what we can focus on. I think that if we proceed with the partisan sideshow of prosecuting Bush admin. officials, healthcare will get lost in the brouhaha.
