Unfortunately I believe that we are limited in what we can focus on. I think that if we proceed with the partisan sideshow of prosecuting Bush admin. officials, healthcare will get lost in the brouhaha.

A Lovesick Mayor And His 'Teenage Fantasy'

POSTED: 05:51 PM ET, 03/ 9/2009 by Derek Kravitz

Quotable
I REALIZED THAT YOU ARE THE WIND BENEATH MY WINGS. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH IT HURTS SOMETIMES."
— online chat by Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick: More Kilpatrick Messages Released

More text messages and e-mails to and from former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick were released today, showing the extent of the first "Hip Hop Mayor's" relationship with a former aide.

Kilpatrick spent four months in a county jail last year after he was convicted of lying under oath to hide an affair with his chief of staff.

He pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice Sept. 4 after The Detroit Free Press published dozens of sometimes-racy text messages between Kilpatrick and Christine Beatty.

About 1,400 text messages were made public today, ranging from teenage-esque puppy love ("Love you, too. All of you. Mostly your spirit and soul. Its beautiful! The outside aint so bad either!" Kilpatrick writes) to more serious topics of love ("I heard something on the radio that made me think about why we never tried to be together post college," Beatty wrote).

Their relationship apparently started after the pair left college in the 1990s.

Beatty wrote to Kilpatrick on July 23, 2002 after they left school: "Yes I thought about it when I first came home from school and saw you a few times, right around the time we first had sex and shortly after that you were engaged. After that, I thought we would never have opportunity to be together an didn't seriously think about it."

Beatty wrote again to Kilpatrick a few moments later: "Did you consider how I may have felt about you or if (sic) was any different or deeper for that matter. Or had you already decided that you were going to get married?"

Kilpatrick replied: "I REALLY BELIEVED THAT I HAD NO CHANCE TO BE WITH YOU. I've WANTED TO HAVE SEX WITH YOU SINCE I WAS 17yrs OLD. I BELIEVED IT WAS MY ONLY OPPORTNITY (SIC). AT THAT TIME I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A TEENAGE FANTASY COME TRUE! NOW I KNOW DIFFERENT."

Here's one for the Mayor I have had some luck with:

"If I told you that you have a nice body would you hold it against me?

It would helpful to know if he was using his official email and wireless accounts or not. If he was, that's not too smart. If it was a private account, I don't see how it's anyone's business.

"the Free Press said it examined 14,000 text messages on Beatty's city-issued pager"

Her's was a city pager.
They both lied in a deposition about being involved romantically. They said they were not, but it was proven that they were. That's what he went to jail for.

I wonder how all of this is bouncing around in his wife's musings. He declares his love for another woman that he was intimate with before he was ever married.
He kept it up for years. Overall it's a long term betrayal of his vow and promise to his wife. It must be taking a whole lot of forgiving and understanding on her part to continue with him.
It must be mighty hard to trust him or his word anymore either. I feel for her.

Now that some democratic families have set that unspoken precedent of having their underaged fantasy a reality, the sky is the limit in the big D on that subject? Why have all these special agents, programs,a sex offender register if men and women are just going to "pretend" that the fantasy isn't a reality,if the cops in their family are going to look the other way,if the generational family issue is just ignored,if the catholic church is going to be sued and only certain priests are convicted.A double standard or just another false and misleading headline to get some press, take the heat off those "whistleblower" cops for what they were really fired for?Go out to Livingston county to advanced behavioral counseling, ask for Beth and she will write anything about sexual abuse that anyone wants her to for a price. Then she will furhter her career and ruin so many lives in and out of the court, that even the real sexual predators in the state of Michigan will be able to lie their way out of anything.
