Send the whole bunch to Bagram since we will be in Afganistan until we lose. Then either they die at an early age due to maltreatment or the Taliban liberate them when they run us out of Afganistan. Of couse, we could bomb the prison on our way out, killing whoever remains.

i agree they might not escape b/c our prisons are hard to escape, but he is missing the point -- it is not fair to USA criminals to be put in prison with terrists who want to kill them -- no matter how bad your crime, that does not mean you should have to be incarserated w/ osama bin laden or 1 of his fellow al-qaeda -- many prisoners already have faced advercity in their lives -- they may deserve punishment, but there are limits, even for child molesters, etc.

Are we not the land of the brave?

Or should we change our national anthem?

We should shame all 67 senators who voted no.

I saw Harry Reid's pathetic excuse for not passing the funding for closing Guantanamo immediately. Fear of "releasing terrorists on the streets of the US" is a pathetic piece of sophistry adopted from GOP fear mongering.

We are AMERICANS. Have a spine. Demonstrate to the world that our behavior is based upon our own laws and principles.

Close Guantanamo. Move the terrorists to a SuperMax facility or even San Quentin, a few miles from my house. (I used to be able to see it from my lovely home on the Tiburon peninsula.)

Harry Reid should get it done now or resign as Majority Leader.

Who said put them in the same cellblock?

If there's one skillset the US has demonstrated global leadership it is our ability to build and operate prisons.

President Obama could shut down Gitmo without asking the current Congress for anything...because previous rubber-stamp Republican Congresses have already done the heavy lifting.

For instance, remember the $385 million allocated by the Republican-controlled Congress several years ago to build dozens of new maximum security detention centers around the U.S., for detaining immigrants and "for other purposes"?

"For other purposes"?

Why that leaves the door wide open for President Obama to move all the detainees from Gitmo and house them securely at one of these detention centers, like the one being offered by the U.S. citizens living in Hardin Montana, with a 400-bed maximum security facility there that is currently sitting empty.

Game. Set. Match.

But only if President Obama seizes the moment!!
