So David Ortiz, Randy Moss and now Kevin Garnett have made the move from Minneapolis to Boston. Nice work beantown. From the perspective of someone who grew up in the Minny, the Ortiz situation hurts but is understandable: he was a talented but ultra-raw prospect with shaky fielding skills who was getting hurt all of the time when the Twins let him walk. Besides, the Twins had a first-bagger by the name of Justin Morneau coming up in the system and had to make room.
Randy is just Randy and the Pats may be the only team capable of getting him back to the form he showed as Vike. Still, it's going to hurt seeing him catch those long bombs from Tom Brady next season. (You think T Brady isn't pumped at the thought of having after working with Caldwell and Gafney last season?)
Seeing Garnett in a C's uniform is just going to be flat out weird. What number is he going to wear? (21 is in the rafters). That said, it was time to move him and we all have to agree that the NBA is better when the C's are at least interesting. Congrats Kevin McHale. During your tenure as Wolves GM, you: failed to put championship-level talent around a once-in-a-generation player, made so many head-scratching trades/signings/decisions, your fan base actually thinks this deal looks good and you wound up helping your former team. I wonder, did McHale offer to throw in all 10,000 lakes in this deal?
As for the biz with the Wiz, there isn't much new to report. Ernie is still looking to move JNC for the right price but he isn't getting what he likes. The "deadline" impossed by F.C. Barcelona is a "for the end of the week."
Talks with Andray Blatche are continuing but nothing appears to be on the verge. It's still mysterious to me that I'm not hearing about ANY other teams making a run at the kid. (Maybe Dallas jumps back into the picture now that the Garnett pipe dream is dead?)
