Update from Jersey

I'm here inside the arena now called the Izod Center (if Indiana's Conseco Fieldhouse is my favorite joint in the league, this is the exact opposite) and Gilbert Arenas was just out on the floor doing some shooting drills. He was wearing game shorts and moving well so that tells me that he's going to play tonight.

Interesting stats to digest before the game: Since Caron Butler went down with a season ending hand injury at Milwaukee last April 1, the Wiz are 2-15 and have yet to score 104 points in regulation. Yikes. One more: the Nets are 16-6 against the Wiz since Jason Kidd came to Jersey in 2001.

I'll check back later with any updates/info.

Nets are one of those teams that have our number.

At 0-3, they aren't the only team.

Open letter to Eddie Jordan:

If Gilbert's knee is not fully healed, DO NOT PLAY HIM 40 MINUTES!

Do not play him at all. Please let him heal.

Nets are going to squash the Wizards tonight, I predict 104-82. Lawrence Frank knows every play EJ draws up, and Larry Hughes proved last year in the playoffs that EJ does not have the mental capacity to adjust to an opponent who has seen his playbook. We have a coach who just isn't very bright.

Look for B-Hay to soon see his minutes drop for no reason. And then EJ will say "Haywood's numbers are going down, so I'm going to bench him." It'll be EJ's way of deflecting the blame for a horrendous start.

Trading Kobe for Arenas and Blatche isn't looking so crazy now is it? If that offer was really on the table, what a blunder by EG. Nobody will want Arenas now, he's just showing his me-first attitude, saying losing isn't a big deal, etc. All he cares about is being on the cover of video games and being the topic of discussion on ESPN. Trade him before he leaves as an FA and gets us nothing in return.

What is up with this spam? Gilby is a big boy. If his knee is hurting him, he should take himself out of the game. Portis does the same thing.

Cool. But yesterday you wrote this:

"So, to some of the more knowledgeable members of the board, how many minutes (if any) a game do you think Gilbert should be getting right now since he is obviously still recovering from his knee injury?

Posted by: | November 7, 2007 07:14 PM "

None.

He should sit out until he's fully healthy. He won't get there by continuing to play. I would have him sit until after the all star break. Let the dude rest, and then let Gilby carry Les Boules in the 2nd half of the season....

Keys to the Game:

1.) *obvious alert* - FG% - The Wiz have been sub 37% all games, above 44% gets us in the door, at least.

2.) Bench Support - Here's the Wiz bench points production so far: Magic - 14 pts., Boston - 18 pts., Indiana - 17 pts.

If the Wiz get 27+ points from the bench tonight, I guarantee a win. (of course, EJ needs to play a certain someone a lil' bit more)

3) plain and simple, Agent Zero - the knee has been drained....hibachi?

Gilby should sit out and rest up until he's fully healthy, but that's a call he has to make. If you expect Les BouleS to look out for their players and their injuries, go talk to CWebb. Before he left, he thinks Les BouleS doctors didn't tell him the real story.

I think Gilby feels pressure to back up all the smack talk he had during the offseason. EJ could cover Gilby by sitting him out, but why would EJ do that? EJ's got to take care of EJ.

I think a more interesting stat than carons is since jamison got hurt in the detroit game last year the wiz only have had only one quaility win and that was against the raptors last year.

I believe they pretty much lost every game against good (above 500) teams and struggled to beat the dregs and even lost to some (knicks) after that point last year.

Whoops, sorry about that. Don't know what happened.
