Butler out, Songaila to start
The hits just keep on coming for the Wizards. F Caron Butler will be out tonight against Indiana with a sprained right ankle, an injury he suffered during practice on Thursday and aggravated when he landed after taking his first shot last night against Atlanta. Caron was in the trainer's room before the game with a bag of ice strapped to the ankle so I didn't get to talk to him but the team says he's day-to-day. The good news is that the Wiz don't play again until Wednesday at Charlotte.
Darius Songaila will start for Butler and Roger Mason Jr., who flew in this afternoon after attending his grandfather's funeral this morning, will make his second straight start at guard. Judging by my conversation with Coach Eddie Jordan before the game, I wouldn't be surprised if Mike Wilks saw more action at the point. The offense moved pretty well when he was in there last night.
Good news on Antonio Daniels. Barring a setback, he's aiming towards next Saturday's home game against Miami as a return date. He was in practice gear tonight and says the swelling in the knee has reduced to the point that he's ahead of schedule.
