Wiz at Heat

This is one the Wizards must win. Miami will take the floor with a D-League team tonight (no D-Wade, no Mourning, no Shawn Marion and even no Pat Riley, who is scouting). Rookie Nick Young is out with right thigh bruise for the Wizards. I just heard about that moments before tip-off. I'll ask him about after the game.

Folks have commented/asked me questions about why Andray Blatche has seen a reduction in minutes in the last few games. I asked Coach Eddie Jordan about it one hour ago and his response should come as no surprise to anyone who has followed this team since it drafted Blatche three years ago.

Eddie: "We're looking for a more professional approach and a little bit more energy, a lot more alterness. So, we'd like to see some improvement there but at the same time, Darius (Songaila) has been really good for us and when Caron (Butler) is out, Dominic can do some good things for us at small forward. He's quicker, he has range, he can cover more ground and he rebounds at both ends. But yeah, we'd like to see Andray be a little bit more alert and more consistent with his energy."

I then asked Eddie whether Andray's issues have been more on the court or off the court.

Eddie: "Life skills show up on the basketball court. If you take care of your body off the floor, get your rest, eat right and lift, it shows up. You'll see an accelerated growth. But, if you don't do those things and rely just on touch and feel, that doesn't get it done in the NBA. You've got to play harder every night, every possession. You have to prepare your body and your mind, emotionally and physically. You've got to prepare yourself at the highest level and we're just not seeing that right now."

Me: "He's three years in now."
Eddie: "Well, he's younger than our rookies. "

Orlando is beating PHI by 18 points right now and CLE is leading the Raptors so a win here will possibly have us play CLE.

So the curfew was for Andray?

B.A.M., I'm sure where the standing end tonight will be the same as the end of year standings.

Nice post Ivan! We all see it, but he is still just 21 and he does have good influences around him on this team. If he gets it, we got a really nice player. He even has all-star potential in him in my mind. Hope we get to see it!

Not falling for the trap thus far. We look really good all around, but it is the Heat.

Weird.

Orlando announcers very non-complimentary to the Wiz - bad D, bad coaching.

Heat announcers super complimentary toward the Wiz - improved D, improved depth, dangerous with GA back.

Interesting getting the "away" commentary regardless!

Nice one Ivan. This lets me know you are reading some of our posts. Great job on the questions.......!!

Now can you do a post on Ted Leonis and his deal with Uncle Abe? Susan O'Mally leaving and did that have anything to do with a move in the future? I have been asking since last season for something on this. Thanks.....

Is what the Heat doing even legal? Shouldn't it be against the rules for an Head Coach to be scouting college games instead of appearing at NBA games? For a team to field 7 players?

Must suck for J. Williams that he can't come up with an "injury" that requires season-ending surgery.

Nice win - 5th place. We want LeBron, we want Lebron!

A good trip to FL for the Wiz... Now, get home safely and rest up for 'Sheed and the Pistons... Will we see Gilbert for this one?????

Good juice from Ivan.

As young and immature AB is, I wonder why the vets like AJ and Caron haven't made an impact on him yet. Ivan reported awhile ago about how AJ chastised him about getting on the second bus to the gym, but that approach doesn't seem to be working.

Let's just hope AB doesn't withdraw and turn into Kwame Brown. AB's got a lot of good skills.

Redskins Magazine did a segment on Blatche and his crib a few weeks ago (his place is fabulous) - Blatche had a poster/pic of Caron and he said Caron was his favorite Wizard...has mentored him.

Well, Caron worked like a dog this offseason on the down low to come back the best shape of his life, increased his range past the 3 point line, increased his FT percentage by almost .050 to 91.2%, and has been carrying the team.

What did AB do all summer? Got arrested for being a john while he was a free agent. Hot and cold this season.

Lesson: Don't believe the chit chat hype from ballers.

DC Man, haven't you been in love with Blatche all season? Comparing him to KG? Blaming Eddie for not playing him more?

Good win tonight. My favorite moment was the the steal Caron made that he turned into the behind the back move, into the lay up and foul for a 3 point play.
