Game 1

Well, I can say this for sure: DeShawn Stevenson is the most hated man in Cleveland. He's already hearing it. A couple of the Wiz went to the mall yesterday and ran into Cavs fans who were looking for DeShawn. Rookie Dominic McGuire: "This dude came up to me and told me to have DeShawn come down to the mall and talk that (stuff). He was serious too."
DeShawn just laughed: "Why would I go the mall?"

A couple of pre-game notes:

-The Wiz locker room was as focused as I've ever seen. And the word is that Gilbert Arenas, Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison set the tone by meeting Thursday night at the VC where they talked about the series.

-One change for the Cavs: Wally Szczerbiak will start for the first time. Mike Brown likes Devin Brown coming off the bench to defend Gilbert.

-Interesting stat on the Cavs: They led the league in fourth quarter comeback wins this season (28). The next closest teams were Golden State, Portland and Sacramento at 18. Not sure what that means but it is interesting.

-The Wiz are in black and gold. Brendan Haywood said it was Arenas and Butler who pushed for the colors.

Offense looks atrocious. When LeTravel is being held down for a period of time, you have to take advantage. They're settling for jumpers. Butler looks awful. AJ hasn't found his shot yet.

I guess Gilbert ate his Wheaties this morning. And way to go AB on that foul on LeBron, that is what we like.

Too bad Brendan couldn't sneak in a little stomp Little Lord James since he got hit with the technical anyway. I like the nastiness though.

What I don't like is how late in the half, the Wizards started to let the Cavaliers get offensive rebounds and started to leave their shooters open. That can't happen in the second half.

could anyone explain what happened at the end of the 2nd? watching on nba.com, it says Jamison and Lebron were hit with double Techs. So why didn't the Wiz get a free throw?

Posted by: Anonymous | April 19, 2008 1:49 PM | Report abuse

All the Lebrat d*ck ridin on ESPN is makin me nauseous already and its just the first half of the first freakin game. So so overhyped! Lucky too that Brendan didnt put his spoil a$$ in timeout!

Posted by: DjB | April 19, 2008 1:50 PM | Report abuse

Jamison got a tech as well. Wallace ran in there so I wonder why he didn't get one also?

Posted by: George Templeton | April 19, 2008 1:50 PM | Report abuse

"So why didn't the Wiz get a free throw?"

Brendan got one also so the Cavs got the free throw.

It kills me how Lebron NEVER gets called for those travels. Makes me sick.

Again no Larry Hughes, big day for Gil.

What a surprise, LeBron takes a dive and that is four on Haywood. This is bull#$#&! And now Songaila is playing center (slow smallball everybody!). Hope EJ will use Blatche some.

If Gilbert is gonna bump his gums, he needs to come up big in the 4th!!! Lebron made plays, the wiz didnt.....1 down, 3 to go.

Ha....whiners, you lose, AGAIN. Boy is LeBron overratted. Yeah right.

Posted by: Cleveland Man | April 19, 2008 4:03 PM | Report abuse

The playoffs is a whole new beast. Guys like Mason, Blatche, NY and Songaila are pretty much worthless. Mason couldn't hit a shot and Blatche looked lost at times. Songaila played some decent Def on Z, but only put up 3 pts. These guys will have to step it up if Zards want to win the series. You can put Stevenson in that group too, he missed several wide open 3s.

And man Wizards suck, they know that Cleverland is a one man team and they still couldnt stop that 1 man with 5 guys on the court mugging him every chance they got...pathetic effort.

DeShawn just laughed: "Why would I go the mall?"
