Draft Night

The history of the 18th pick isn't exactly sexy. Take a look at the last few years in decending order: Marco Belinelli (GS), Oleksiy Pecherov (Wiz), Gerald Green (Boston - now on way out of league), J.R. Smith (New Orleans - has become pretty solid player in Denver), David West (New Orleans - ok, he's an all star).

Players taken after 18 in recent drafts: David Lee (30), Monta Ellis (40 - oops), Kevin Martin (26 - oops), Anderson Flopijao (30), Boris Diaw (21), Leandro Barbosa (28), Josh Howard (29 - oops), Tayshaun Prince (23 - oops), Carlos Boozer (35 - oops), Brendan Haywood (20), Tony Parker (28 - big oops) and who can forget Gilbert Arenas (31 - big, big oops).

Nothing poppin' here at the VC so far. It's quiet though it's probably not that way in the Wiz war room which I will never be allowed to enter. A few of my final thoughts until later postings tonight:
-The team brought in Donte Greene of Syracuse and Darrell Arthur of Kansas at the last minute for a reason.

-Other interesting guys the Wiz worked out leading up to tonight: Marreese Speights, Mario Chalmers, J.J. Hickson and Jason Thompson.

-Keep an eye on Walter Sharpe for that 47th pick. The Wizards worked him out twice.
