Wizards Release 2008-09 TV Schedule

Paul Tenorio fills in for Ivan and Michael, delivering us this news:

The Washington Wizards' 2008-09 television schedule was released today, and 71 of the 82 regular season games will be shown locally on Comcast Sportsnet or Comcast-Plus, beginning with the season opener at home on Oct. 29 vs. New Jersey.

Comcast will air 60 regular season games with 49 broadcast in high definition, and will produce 11 games to air on Comcast-Plus and six games on CW50.

Washington also will play in 20 nationally televised games -- nine on NBATV, five each on TNT and ESPN, and one on ESPN2 -- highlighted by a Christmas Day showdown against Cleveland on TNT. All five of the games between Washington and Cleveland, including a preseason match-up on Oct. 24, will air nationally.

Cleveland has eliminated Washington from the postseason the past three seasons and the growing rivalry between the two teams received national attention this past year.

Comcast also will air three of the Wizards' seven preseason games, including the opener at Dallas on Oct. 7.

The Wizards also announced yesterday that tickets for the Oct. 10 preseason game against the Detroit Pistons at the Verizon Center will go on sale Monday.

Thank you Paul. We appreciate this. Are Mike and Ivan both on vacation? When do they return?

P.S. Has anyone heard anything about Gilbert's work-outs? Wasn't he supposed to begin basketball activity on August 1? It is now 6 weeks after that date, and I wonder how he is doing.

The Wiz will win dominate the Cavs in all 5 games this year.

I was wondering when we would see something new here :-) Twenty national TV dates for the Wiz suggests that somebody with decision-making power thinks they will be at least a fringe contender and good entertainment value, yes?

They quit posting articles here because of all of the crap postings! Can't say I blame them.

CAN'T WAIT!

I wouldn't get too excited about how many nationally televised games the Wiz are scheduled for. All of them can be dropped if they don't perform up to expectations.

dam. You're still here.

The fact that they've had 20 games scheduled for national broadcast is an indication of how far this team has come since the bad old days.

Dang-It!

I was finally committed to my Duckworth post.

It is doubtful their games will be dropped. The Wiz play exciting basketball.
