Game Day

I'll be heading over to the 02 World Arena for today's Wiz/Hornets game in a bit. The team will hop a flight onto Barcelona following the game but I'm not getting out of here until tomorrow.

I'll be posting some more video a little later from the arena as well as some video of Berlin. As I said yesterday, it's a really interesting city. The coolest thing to me is the mixture of architecture. Because the city was bombed so heavily during WW II, much of it had to be rebuilt. However, large chunks of the city have remained very much the same going back to the early part of the century. I had dinner at an outside cafe (they are everywhere) near the Brandenburg gate last night. Beautiful.

The arena is located in what was old east Germany and is about a football field's length away from where the Berlin Wall cut through. Now, the city is wide open. I've asked a handful of Berliners to describe what it was like pre and post-wall and the reactions are interesting. One cabbie told me that he grew up on the east but moved to the west in the early 70's and therefore wasn't able to see members of his family for a good 15 years.

More from the arena......
