MMPG: Player of the Week

Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks

Jerry Stackhouse wants out. Josh Howard is in and out with injuries. And owner Mark Cuban has been charged with insider trading. But all is not ill in Dallas, where Mavericks fans still have something to be excited about -- and his name is Dirk. Nowitzki led his team to three victories last week -- and four overall -- to help turn around what was looking to be a long, difficult season in Dallas.

During the four-game winning streak, Nowitzki is averaging 30 points and 11.5 rebounds. He had season highs of 39 points and 15 rebounds against the New York Knicks, then led his team to victories over Charlotte, Houston and Memphis. The Mavericks are now 6-7 and capable of getting back on track -- so long as the former MVP puts the team on his back.
