MMPG: Player of the Week

LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers

It took James three games to feel through his surroundings, study what new teammate Mo Williams provides, and figure out what it was going to take for the Cavaliers to be a serious contender in the Eastern Conference. He discovered that the reigning scoring champion was going to have to light up the scoreboard.

James averaged 34.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists in wins over Dallas, Chicago, Indiana and Chicago again. It shouldn't come as a surprise that James's explosion comes as his new Nike commercial is blowing up up on the interwebs.

Chicago brought out the best in Bron Bron, as James scored 41 points in both games against the Bulls. Brian Windhorst of the Cleveland Plain Dealer described James's dominance over the Bulls best, especially considering how another player that used to wear No. 23 used to torture Cleveland:

Turnabout is fair play. For years, opponents came to the United Center and Michael Jordan would find some way to beat them. Time after time, whether it was a dunk, a 3-pointer or suffocating defense, Jordan made the difference. Now it's LeBron James' turn.

And, if you haven't seen it already, you can check out LeBron's new Nike commercial with Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger after the jump. This was made for people who were craving some sensuality with their sneakers.
