The Other Side: Detroit Pistons
My bad. I forgot to fill you guys in on the New Jersey Nets on Wednesday, and look what happened? Jarvis Hayes came back and haunted his former team by knocking down all of those jumpers that used to roll out or clang the back of the rim.
Oh well, the season moves on, and the Wizards get to see another former first round pick in Kwame Brown tonight in Detroit. Brown had one steal in three minutes in his Pistons debut and said he's looking forward to facing the Wizards tonight. "It's like an old girlfriend. I've got a new girlfriend now. I want to show her off," he said.
The Detroit Pistons (1-0) are the only unbeaten team in the Central Division after claiming new coach Michael Curry's first win with a 100-94 victory over Indiana on Wednesday. Here's what you need to know about the Pistons.
2. The Pistons hope that a new coach is the only change they need.
3. The Pistons still have plenty of room to improve.
And, I know this has nothing do with the Pistons, the NBA or basketball, but you can't talk to anybody from Detroit without eventually talking about former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, who was sentenced earlier this month to 120 days in prison for obstructing justice. Kilpatrick used to be a regular at Pistons games, and was hard to miss in his colorful, Steve Harvey-esque suits. He did a bunch of shady stuff, but he also had an extramarital affair with his chief of staff, Christine Beatty. If you find yourself beset by boredom this afternoon, the Detroit Free Press has had a field day with the text messages he shared with his mistress.
