The Other Side: Detroit Pistons

My bad. I forgot to fill you guys in on the New Jersey Nets on Wednesday, and look what happened? Jarvis Hayes came back and haunted his former team by knocking down all of those jumpers that used to roll out or clang the back of the rim.

Oh well, the season moves on, and the Wizards get to see another former first round pick in Kwame Brown tonight in Detroit. Brown had one steal in three minutes in his Pistons debut and said he's looking forward to facing the Wizards tonight. "It's like an old girlfriend. I've got a new girlfriend now. I want to show her off," he said.

The Detroit Pistons (1-0) are the only unbeaten team in the Central Division after claiming new coach Michael Curry's first win with a 100-94 victory over Indiana on Wednesday. Here's what you need to know about the Pistons.

1. Jason Maxiell just got paid. The NBA's most likeable baby-eater signed a four-year, $20-million extension this week.

2. The Pistons hope that a new coach is the only change they need.

3. The Pistons still have plenty of room to improve.

And, I know this has nothing do with the Pistons, the NBA or basketball, but you can't talk to anybody from Detroit without eventually talking about former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, who was sentenced earlier this month to 120 days in prison for obstructing justice. Kilpatrick used to be a regular at Pistons games, and was hard to miss in his colorful, Steve Harvey-esque suits. He did a bunch of shady stuff, but he also had an extramarital affair with his chief of staff, Christine Beatty. If you find yourself beset by boredom this afternoon, the Detroit Free Press has had a field day with the text messages he shared with his mistress.

Kwame Kilpatrick is a "BAMA" i see enough of those bama azz Steve Harvey suits here in the ATL he should have been locked up for wearing those suits never mind the sexually explicit text messages he had with his chief of staff who didn't look all that hot to me,then there's the other "bama" who plays for the Pistons's hopefully he's learned how to dry clean his suits instead of putting them in the washing machine LOL!!. Now if the Wiz could pull off the upset tonite in motown it would make for a nice Sunday!!.

Sorry, I think linking to those text messages here was inappropriate.

Let's stick to basketball and leave the other stuff to the news pages.

Thanks.

Re: Kwame Brown. That's a hilarious quote. I bet the old girlfriend is going to giggle uncontrollably, saying to herself, "I'm glad you got stuck with that stiff now."

Kwame, I don't think will be eating Les BouleS's dinner tonight, but Rasheed and Rip Hamilton more likely.

So apparently some of this mess with Kilpatrick started, judging from the text messages, while he was in line at Ben's Chili Bowl? Damn.
