You know it would be great just to see the Wizards just flat out Run and Gun with the Lakers to see where they end up.

It could be surprising. But, one thing for sure, if they slow walk with AD, we all know how that cake gonna taste. NASTY!!! UUHH!!!

Can't say I didn't expect this to happen. It's ugly and it's going to be ugly all night. The Wiz just aren't a very good team...they'll get blown out. Final score: 129-79, ouch.

Posted by: rachel216 | December 5, 2008 7:34 PM | Report abuse

Rachel216, It won't be that bad. But did I just see AD fast breaking and passes to ET under the basket for a layup, Great...Damn ET fumbles the ball out of bounds.

Posted by: LarryInClintonMD | December 5, 2008 7:46 PM | Report abuse

Keep it runnin helter skelter like and we might jus figure out what a little BBall is all about. Keep pushin baby. Keep the faith Rachel216.

Posted by: LarryInClintonMD | December 5, 2008 7:56 PM | Report abuse

Thank God NY and DS hit jumpers while ET was in the game to close out the 2nd, cause our inside was wide open for Gasol.

I'll try, LarryInClintonMD... but it's pretty difficult when you're trying to come back and stevenson misses THREE free throws...

Posted by: rachel216 | December 5, 2008 8:47 PM | Report abuse

This team's guards are flatout the worst in the league. Absolutely horrendous.

But that's okay because they have no inside game either.

You can't run and gun with no guards.

Stevenson is shooting 32% while Brown and Daniels are also under 40%.

No inside game, guards shooting under 40% and that's a prescription for a 15 win season.

Posted by: SteveMG | December 5, 2008 8:50 PM | Report abuse

Stevenson missing 3 consecutive free throws is flat out inexcusable. It is an embarrassment to continue starting him...possibly even playing him at all. Does Stevenson have photos of Abe with a Bullets cheerleader circa 1978?

Don't understand why DMac gets no run tonight; we could have used his energy/athleticism.

I am sitting here just watching this. Sure, we did not expect the Wizs to win this game, but, their point play sucks. Pride can be your most glaring fault. They start DB but they want let him run the game for them. He is the only point on this team that is effective.

If they ain't gonna let him run the game, then he ain't no good to them. Starting the 4th we got ET, DSon, and AD in the game. No wonder Coach Phil and KB are over on the bench laughing.

whoa 9 point game!

Posted by: rachel216 | December 5, 2008 9:07 PM | Report abuse

Yeah Kobe comes in out of this break. Playtime over unfortunately.

Go Wiz.

Posted by: The_Shadow_Knows | December 5, 2008 9:09 PM | Report abuse

Wiz must give up the most offensive rebounds in the league.

Posted by: rachel216 | December 5, 2008 9:12 PM | Report abuse

SteveMG, I beg to differ, we do have an inside game and we do have a point. We don't let them play. DB, JM, AB, and DM are not in the game enough consistent minutes to establish anything.

Rachel216, I hear you and those freethrows were important too. DStev needs a good cursing out, but he tries to do to much. I would tell him to worry only about shooting the ball and if he ain't hitting he is coming out the game.

Posted by: LarryInClintonMD | December 5, 2008 9:12 PM | Report abuse

Agreed. 4 straight possessions a killer.

Posted by: The_Shadow_Knows | December 5, 2008 9:14 PM | Report abuse

nice, threw the ball away jamison. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Yes, but their three top guards are all shooting under 40%. That's a killer.

Second, JM is too raw to play big minutes and AB is still too inconsistent.

The main consistency of this team is that they're always inconsistent.

Holy S&*#!

DARN IT I thought Kobe was gonna lose it!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: rachel216 | December 5, 2008 9:23 PM | Report abuse

Damn. We had the look, Kobe opened the door but as usual we refuse to walk through it. Good 2nd half effort.

Posted by: The_Shadow_Knows | December 5, 2008 9:27 PM | Report abuse

ugh that is not fair

Posted by: rachel216 | December 5, 2008 9:28 PM | Report abuse

How do you like that? The three to win it or drive to the basket to tie it. I can't complain either way.

But, I just want to say one thing. The Wizs do have players right now on this team to win games. I been saying it all along and hopefully ETaps gets the right folks on the floor to get the job done.

Posted by: LarryInClintonMD | December 5, 2008 9:31 PM | Report abuse

Sheesh, they can't get a break. Or take advantage of them.

Give them props for hanging in.

They simply have to do something about their guards. They can scramble some inside juggling guys. But they just can't continue with these guys in the backcourt.

Posted by: SteveMG | December 5, 2008 9:32 PM | Report abuse

I was ready to jump up and down, i thought it was goin in... this SUCKS.

Wiz need to do all the 'little things' better. Still giving up WAAAYY too many second chance opportunities, not getting rebound off a missed free throw... and stevenson NEEDS to make his free throws. I mean, almost every game they've been in it, it's all the 'little things' that hurt them. But it's great that they did came back, they could've just laid down and stopped playing hard but they came back, great character win, just wish it Butler coulda won it.

Posted by: rachel216 | December 5, 2008 9:37 PM | Report abuse

SteveMG, you prove my point, lack of consistent minutes will contribute to inconsistent for any player. Rookie or Veteran.

Posted by: LarryInClintonMD | December 5, 2008 9:40 PM | Report abuse

Great effort even after bad second half coaching by Tabscott. I just wish Ivan could do a special report to see why both Eddie's found and find it paramount to give Stevenson's so many minutes? That dude is a 2 or 3 string guard at best. I just don't get it.

Again, how you can not find any minutes for Juan when your backcourt of AD and Stevenson are stinking up the joint I will never know.

As for McGee, I agreed with sitting him the 1st half because he was getting man handled. However he was getting better position in the 3rd quarter and was not getting thrown around like the 1st quarter. With that said, he should have gotten some more run in the second half.

I don't know what Dee Brown did to not get any minutes other then the start. It must be because of his size because that is the only thing I can figure.

Glad to see AB in the game during a meaniful time. He looked pretty good, but he has to put a string together and also Tabscott has to want to play him.

Lastly, good game overall but Tabscott needs to look into starting NY over Stevenson. Our 1st and 3rd quarter starts are killing us every game.

Posted by: BulletsFever | December 5, 2008 9:42 PM | Report abuse

Hustle don't lie. For those AB bashers out there, you can't fake non-stop hustle for the near 25 consecutive minutes that he played in the second half.

And NY brings about 3 times as much to the 2 position than DeS.

Hopefully, Taps looks at the +/-'s for this game prior to the Bull's tipoff.

You notice that players on other teams are literally laughing at us? Did you see Bibby the other night? And Kobe on the bench tonight. They're smiling and joking. We make it so easy for other teams to get into a groove; and it was the same story last year. You let teams get off on the first quarter, they get it going, they start lauching, it's over.

And I'm tired about this "we need to fix the little things" line. No--we need to fix big things, like getting an attitude

Posted by: jweber1 | December 5, 2008 9:50 PM | Report abuse

Blatche needs 30 Nick needs thirty, deshawn needs none, we have better handles, better scorers and dom is way nicer on d. Mcgee Playing 9 minutes is pathetic. He woulda made a 3 point difference in the outcome. 1.NY 2.Butler 3.Jamison 4. BLatche 5 Mcgee we need 30 mins from all 5, we win tonight if this would have happened. Etan got way too much time, these are mcgee's minutes, the kid had eight in 9 mins

Posted by: bford1kb | December 5, 2008 9:53 PM | Report abuse

Jweber1, your comments about the laughing, I am glad someone picked up on that besides me. I've blogged about the laughing on several occasions. The laughing in basketball is important and if the Wizards don't know why, they better ask somebody.

Gilbert Arenas, if you read this blog, can you get ETaps to let DB run the point, give JM more minutes, along with AB, and DM, and keep ET, DSon, and AD on the bench.

Gilbert, I know thats a tall order, but it is a very simple and winning order.

If not Gilbert, then somebody that has influence.

Good god! Is anyone in here ever satisfied? The Wiz were crisp and ready and played a nice basketball game tonight! If they were wearing Lakers' uniforms, they would have won the game against, perhaps, the best team in the NBA.
As per usual, the Lakers and Kobe got every benefit of the doubt call possible. Plus, they made 5/6 3's with guys in their grill!

Games like this are why EJ got fired. If I hear one more time how the team still played "hard" etc for EJ this year, I am going to puke. It's pure bs. I have watched every game this year and most games for 35 years. The Wiz were dejected, lacked spirit, and played "hard" twice the whole season before he got fired by my count, maybe three times max! I don't care if mostly star players liked EJ, the role players and guys that need development had tuned him out completely. As for Barkley's opinion and the rest, if you asked Barkley how many Wizard's games he has actually watched this year, I bet the answer would be comical!

With Tapscott, this team has been crisper, rebounds better, passes better, and guys like Blatche and McGuire know their roles. I love the reports of Tap telling McGuire "your my defensive stopper", working Pech out after practice, talking about the "little things", which even guys like CB had stopped doing. Now, whether they are undermanned or not as talented as the opponent, they are actually playing harder and smarter. And when guys like McGuire get on the court now, they don't look lost, they have a clue as to their role!

We could lose every game the rest of the year and if we play like tonight with our roster as is, I would be happy!

Goodbye EJ! Get over it! Let's move on!
