MMPG: Team of the Week

San Antonio Spurs

We're back!

New Orleans and Houston were the trendy picks to take the Southeast Division, and one of those teams very well could win at season's end. But this week, the team that sits in first place has three familiar faces (Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili) and another who now sports a beard (Gregg Popovich). The Spurs won their sixth game in a row on Sunday -- defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder in a surprising nail-biter -- but they also recorded impressive wins over Dallas and Atlanta.

The Spurs started the season slowly but they survived early-season injuries to Ginobili and Parker and appear to have hit their stride in December. They are 6-1 this month, and the Big Three is taking turns taking over. Tim Duncan had 32 points and 14 rebounds and Tony Parker had 29 points in a road win at Dallas; then Ginobili had 27 off the bench in a win over the Hawks. Duncan has had a double-double every game this month, averaging 21.7 points, 12.6 rebounds and two blocked shots the past seven games.

How about mentioning the great job Roger Mason has done helping that team win games. Too bad cheap ABE could not afford his 3.5 million salary so he could help the Clipards win a few games this year. Yes, Kal that is what makes the old man CHEAP!
