MMPG: Player of the Week
Devin Harris, New Jersey Nets
The Dallas Mavericks won't admit it while Jason Kidd is still with the team, but almost every time he steps on the court this season, Devin Harris is giving them a friendly reminder that they may have given up on him a tad too soon. Harris is having an amazing season in New Jersey, where the Nets are making a mockery of all the prognosticators who saw them finishing with the worst record in the Eastern Conference this season. He's averaging a career-high 23.5 points for the Nets, who finished off a four-game West Coast road trip with three wins.
Harris was huge in all three victories, especially the past two in Utah and Phoenix, where he ran laps around the likes of Deron Williams and Steve Nash to the tune of a combined 81 points. Harris had a career-high 47 points and added eight assists and seven rebounds in a 117-109 win against the Suns that ended New Jersey's 14-game losing streak in Phoenix. That performance came one night after he scored 34 points in a 105-88 win in Utah.
In four games last week, Harris averaged 30 points, 6.8 assists and 4.3 rebounds. In the Nets lone loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, Harris had just 18 points and six assists.
