To the Victor, Goes the Jokes

The Wizards need to win more often. Not only for their mental well-being, but also for the sake of comic relief. Needless to say, the Wizards haven't had much to laugh about this season, but after their 108-88 win over New Jersey, the locker room was filled with jokes.

As reporters entered the locker room after an impressive, 20-point win on the road against a team with a winning record, inactive forward Oleksiy Pecherov was slouched back with his legs crossed, scanning the box score, and heckling Antawn Jamison.

He nodded with approval when he saw that Jamison tied Caron Butler with a team-high 22 points. Then he shook his head, like a parent who spotted a D on their kid's report card.

"Only eight rebounds," Pecherov said. "Usually, you have 10."

Jamison laughed. Then Pecherov said, "One assist?"

Jamison tried to explain that he had limited touches (although Jamison did take a team-high 19 shots), but Pecherov shouted back, "No excuses!"

"Okay, and you average one shot a minute!" Jamison shouted back.

Darius Songaila then jumped in to give Pecherov a hard time. "You've played 35 minutes (actually 36) and guess how many assists you have," Songaila asked while forming his fingers into a circle. "Zero. Zero in 35 minutes."

Pecherov and Songaila then got into a deep conversation in Russian. Caron Butler emerged from the shower and said, "They talking about us, y'all."

Nick Young poked his head from behind the door to the shower and screamed for a towel. After Young got his towel, rookie JaVale McGee asked for a towel. Young said, "They out of towels. You're just going to have to come out here naked!"

McGee eventually emerged with two towels, but Young wasn't done with his routine. He put on a plaid red shirt and asked Dominic McGuire, "Don't I look like a model for Levi's?"

"No," McGuire said. "You look like somebody from [the gang movie] 'Colors.' "

That didn't stop Young from posing in his threads at different spots in the locker room. He leaned against one wall, turned his head to the side and said, "Abercrombie & Fitch." Then he walked over to another wall to strike another pose. But as he got set to lean on his right leg, Young bumped his head on a shelf, causing Antonio Daniels to shake his head.

After his embarrassing moment, Young then headed to the door, shot up the peace sign and said, "That's my time, folks."

What's really crazy is that Dee Brown has just 2 fewer rebounds than Darius Songaila. Maybe Tap should put Dee at the 5.

Post game jokes is good for morale, but hopefully pre-game it's all seriousness and high energy in the locker room.

No surprise that the Official Turnover Machine hit his head while joking around.

I'm pretty sure that title belongs to Blatche.
