Butler Out With Flu
Forward Caron Butler will not play tonight against New Jersey. He's home with the flu. That leaves the Wizards with eight healthy bodies. It's a throwback to last season when the team went a stretch with only eight players because of injuries and then-coach Eddie Jordan ran a couple of practices with assistant coaches Mike O'Koren and Phil Hubbard stepping in.
Hey, we know Dave Hopla has a J. Maybe he can suit up. Check back later for a pre-game update.

What other organization would be so cheap that they would not even sign a player to a 10 day contract so the team would have enough players to practice. Just because Cheap Abe does not want to lose the money from not going over the luxury cap! Kal….tell me the old man isn’t cheap.

@Bulletsfan78
I think this team has the max # of players under contract. Let's see if I can reverse engineer, 8 healthy meaning 7 guys hurt (Arenas, Stevenson, Dixon, Bulter, Haywood, Thomas, & Blatche). Last year, I believe a guy or two were signed to some 10 day contracts. However, this team would need to cut someone in order to bring another aboard. That, my friend, will not happen, but I don't think you can blame frugality...

Well, that's one way to limit his turnovers...

if it's not being frugal then it's stupidity

Heading out to the game, ready for a heavy dose of Young, DMac & McGee. The first two guys are certain to start, so hopefully McGee will get the bulk of the mins over Songalia...

As bad as the season has been, the teams veterans like Butler, Jamison, Stevenson, and Songaila have continued to compete, but the management won't even sign players on 10-day contracts to supplement the roster....embarrassing to field an 8-man team. I'm done as far as following the team until a new GM is hired and the owner is willing to loosen the purse strings to field a true contender.

Hmmm, Caron isn't the only one who is sick of this.
