MMPG: Team of the Weak

Memphis Grizzlies

The best news coming out of Memphis these days is that Memphis Grizzlies backup point guard Marko Jaric eloped with supermodel Adriana Lima on Valentine's Day -- and even that has managed to have a negative impact on the team, which has lost seven in a row. Since tying the knot with the Victoria's Secret beauty, Jaric has gone 0-for-20 from the field. Maybe Jaric is a bit preoccupied.

His teammates are just focused on losing. The Grizzlies had a promising start to this month, winning four of their first five games, including wins against Houston and New Orleans. But Memphis has not won since Feb. 9. It lost three games last week to Cleveland, the Danny Granger-less Indiana Pacers and the Kevin Durant-less Oklahoma City Thunder.

Memphis is just 4-13 since Chris Wallace fired Marc Iavaroni on Jan. 22. Johnny Davis coached the first two games, losing both, and Hollins has coached the rest. Hollins has placed the ball in point guard Mike Conley's hands. Conley averaged 14.5 points, 6.2 assists and 4.8 rebounds in February, which was encouraging. But the Grizzlies -- who are 3-23 on the road this season -- play 11 of their 15 games in March away from FedEx Arena, which is not.
