MMPG: Executive of the Year
Danny Ferry, Cleveland Cavaliers
Danny Ferry has been on the job for only four years, and he has learned from previous mistakes (such as overpaying Larry Hughes and Damon Jones) to turn the Cavaliers into a championship contender by making the right tweaks. He dumped more talented players in Hughes and Drew Gooden last season to add pieces that better complement the franchise cornerstone. After Cleveland lost in the second round, Ferry made the most significant move of the offseason, when he acquired point guard Mo Williams from Milwaukee. Williams appears to be the appropriate scoring sidekick for LeBron James and has helped the Cavaliers make a 21-game improvement from last season.
Others in consideration: Mark Warkentien, Denver Nuggets; Otis Smith, Orlando Magic; Daryl Morey, Houston Rockets
