MMPG: Team of the Weak

Atlanta Hawks

When the Atlanta Hawks beat the Los Angeles Lakers on March 29, they looked as if they were destined to finish with the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference and homecourt advantage in the first round for the first time in 10 years. But after losing three consecutive games against Philadelphia, Boston and Orlando, that sense of security has vanished and the Hawks now find themselves in a fight with Miami and the 76ers.

Since winning seven games in a row in mid-March, the Hawks (43-34) have lost six of their past eight games. With five games remaining, the Hawks have a two-game lead over Miami and a 2 ½ game lead over Philadelphia. But in order to secure the fourth spot, they will have to win on the road. They have three games away from Philips Arena and they are just 14-24 on the road this season.
