Wizards (7-15) at Kings (10-13)

Wizards starters: Gilbert Arenas, DeShawn Stevenson, Caron Butler, Antawn Jamison, Brendan Haywood

Kings: Tyreke Evans, Donte Greene, Jason Thompson, Andres Nocioni, Omri Casspi

Line: Kings by 3

Sure, the Wizards have had some trouble closing out games, but Coach Flip Saunders isn't getting so desperate that he needs help calling inbounds plays from fans. ESPN.com has offered fans the opportunity to design an inbounds play http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/insider/news/story?id=4744810 that the Wizards might consider using during a game. When asked about the plan, Saunders said, "We haven't really totally committed on that."

Saunders said that ESPN reporter Ric Bucher presented him with the idea to let fans submit plays for the Wizards to review. Fans can send their proposals to espnwizardsplay@gmail.com, with the subject line, "Inbounds." They have to be submitted by Dec. 23.

"If we do it, it was designed to be something interactive with fans, where the first quarter or something, you run a play that they had, see what they have and do something like that," Saunders said. "It wasn't an end of the game thing. We're still kind of playing around with where it actually goes. We're not exactly sure."

Just a few weeks after the Wizards faced Milwaukee's Brandon Jennings, the Wizards get another promising rookie point guard in Sacramento's Tyreke Evans, who averages 20 points per game. Like Jennings, Evans also worked out for the Wizards, but Saunders said his workout was so impressive, they didn't think he'd be around for No. 5.

"We had him rated as the second-best player after [Blake] Griffin," Saunders said. "We knew if he worked out for other people like he did for us, he wouldn't be there. That was one of the situations that evolved."

Mike James did not travel with the team on this West Coast trip. Saunders said the Wizards decided to leave James behind because there wouldn't be the practice time available for James to get in enough work. James obviously wasn't going to have much time to get on the floor after missing the past five weeks with a broken left ring finger.

"He's not ready yet. He's working back home to get more work back home with our therapists and our practice facility. We only had the gyms for an hour," Saunders said. "Mike is a workaholic, he likes to get two or three workouts at a time."

Javaris Crittenton is yet to make his season debut after having surgery on his left foot, but he is with the team and has been able to participate in practice and walkthroughs this week. Saunders explained why Crittenton is there while James is not. "Javaris hasn't been around. Hasn't been through training camp. He needs to be around to see what we're doing."

Do the Wizards understand there is a 24 second clock?

What a joke....great job Ernie you picked some great players?

Posted by: bulletsfan78 | December 16, 2009 10:57 PM | Report abuse

Jamison is looking to take it inside tonight. We need this every game!

Posted by: and_1 | December 16, 2009 11:12 PM | Report abuse

The Wizards should be required to watch any game on ESPN and maybe they would learn something?

Remind me again why DeShawn is starting or playing?

Posted by: ptp23 | December 16, 2009 11:39 PM | Report abuse

I bet Foye can't wait to get the hell out of here.

Posted by: and_1 | December 16, 2009 11:43 PM | Report abuse

Sac is shooting 57% from the field at the half.
Jamison strained his shoulder so you know he's going to start shooting long-range jumpers to avoid the contact inside.
I guess I can go to bed now.

Ernie already found a scapegoat (a dead man obviously) to justify his horrid GM performance. Now apparently, Abe insisted on spending $171 millions on AJ and Gil.
Good one Ernie!

Posted by: Utilityman1 | December 16, 2009 11:59 PM | Report abuse

Why did we trade for RF? He doesn't get an opportunity to show how he can contribute. Basically, we traded the fifth pick for Mike Miller and EB. That's just stupid.

Posted by: mcdonougha | December 17, 2009 12:12 AM | Report abuse

Wow, Gil is making his free throws. Oh wait, we are still in the 3rd quarter.

Posted by: Utilityman1 | December 17, 2009 12:20 AM | Report abuse

Will someone tell Butler that the pump fake is so predictable now...shoot the dang ball.

Posted by: ptp23 | December 17, 2009 12:27 AM | Report abuse

Can the refs screw us anymore. Call a foul 0.01 seconds on the clock. Take 2 points away because they don't see the ball hit the rim. Give me a break.

The way the Wizards play "D" they are making the Kings look like All Stars.

Side note: They should call the Sacramento Arena IHOB. As in: The International House of Basketball.

kings are so soft inside...dont understand why flip makes softy AB play 5 instead of giving javale a shot to rule the rim. 9pt deficit ensues with kings getting all the putbacks and rebs

McGee would make Evans eat one of those shots. I don't understand why he can't get in the game. Why doesn't the Post beat reporter ask that question?

Saunders needs to commit to RF.... He's gotta be playin like he's the 5th pick of the draft and check Tyreke Evans.

Posted by: BulletsForEva | December 17, 2009 12:43 AM | Report abuse

We are dumb. I don't think the players know the score which is indicated by terrible shot selection.

i dont know if showed on tv, but just after the pacers game ended Flip screamed at mcgee out of frustration and mcgee stalked off pissed. I said to my buddy "we wont see javale for a month"...

...Butler would be a star at Minny (he rocks hard on a losing team), Blatche would be a very poor man's KG that they've been missing, and Haywood, is a decent "defensive" center.

Posted by: BulletsForEva | December 17, 2009 1:07 AM | Report abuse

ugh, Gil's misery continues

Posted by: ptp23 | December 17, 2009 1:08 AM | Report abuse

Well...that's a new way to lose it. Haven't seen the PG getting his cookies snatched to end it.

Gotta appreciate the creativity of ways to lose.

Posted by: SDMDTSU | December 17, 2009 1:08 AM | Report abuse

Dom played well, legitimately checked Evans.

Gil crapped out again, BUT looked more like his old self for extended periods

silver linings...

Posted by: divi3 | December 17, 2009 1:10 AM | Report abuse

Ok Flip...still want to go with Gil at the end of games. Why not give Butler a shot at it? He won a couple the last year with end of game shots

Posted by: ptp23 | December 17, 2009 1:10 AM | Report abuse

we suck. poor chemistry. terrible shot selection. poor rebounding. little effort. zero defense. did you see that steal on arenas by the rookie (one of those i wanted us to draft)??? wtf was gilbert thinking? drive on a bigger guy who is just as quick??? please. take the ball outta his hands!

dissappointing

Posted by: BulletsForEva | December 17, 2009 1:12 AM | Report abuse

That Jamison 3 was stupid. Such a momentum killer.

This losing streak is unlike anything I have ever seen in my entire life.

Posted by: SDMDTSU | December 17, 2009 1:14 AM | Report abuse

13 assist tonight, 11 turnovers

Posted by: BulletsForEva | December 17, 2009 1:15 AM | Report abuse

I kind of liked the lineup with Caron and shooting guard and Dom on the floor. Gives us good defense and hustle (Dom).

Actually the game was lost with that ridiculos shot by Jamison near the end. Butler was under the basket and was po'd after he shot it.

Posted by: ptp23 | December 17, 2009 1:15 AM | Report abuse

Flip sucks. Dom should have had heavy minutes on evans and mcgee should have played serious minutes in the 3rd when the Kings built up their lead.

The team plays uninspired, crap defense...Dom and Mcgee should get heavy minutes everytime the others show up lazy and slow.

Posted by: divi3 | December 17, 2009 1:16 AM | Report abuse

If you look at the Shot Chart (ESPN GameCast), for Jamison, he was so effective inside...

then he got lazy and starting jacking up lame 3s..

Posted by: BulletsForEva | December 17, 2009 1:18 AM | Report abuse

Play Boykins and lose! He should not play...it's the dumbest thing I've seen in a long time. The dude has turned out to be a curse. I might stop watching until he gets some DNP's.

Posted by: rphilli721 | December 17, 2009 1:19 AM | Report abuse

They gotta break this team up. When Miller comes back Flip is going to have even more rotation problems. Just completely sick of their ineptitude.
Boykins played nice the first couple of games, but the offense is completely stagnant when he's in the game.
Why is Foye not playing point more?

Posted by: saltine182 | December 17, 2009 1:20 AM | Report abuse

espn...The Rockets are taking calls on McGrady, and the Knicks are one of the teams making them.

Posted by: ptp23 | December 17, 2009 1:27 AM | Report abuse

The big 3 came to play tonight...

Evans, Nocioni, Casspi (AJ made this guy look like Larry Bird)

How can you get beat by a bunch of rookies?

Posted by: bulletsfan78 | December 17, 2009 1:35 AM | Report abuse

I'm really glad to see the presure is off of Gil now that he is playing away from home?

Posted by: bulletsfan78 | December 17, 2009 1:38 AM | Report abuse

these kids have no pressure for winning ball games. The wiz on the other hand are way over-hyped and can't handle the pressure of winning...

Posted by: BulletsForEva | December 17, 2009 1:39 AM | Report abuse

So is DCMAN88 going to start defending this team now, just to rile people up?

Posted by: chinatown | December 17, 2009 1:42 AM | Report abuse

Trade: Andray Blatche and Mike James' expiring deal to Portland who need cap space next year and some post scoring.(They're giving Juwan Howard big minutes)

Portland sends Steve Blake to Orlando because Jason Williams isn't getting it done and they need an efficient setup man for all their scoring.

Orlando sends Brandon Bass, who is getting no PT to Washington. Washington also gets Martell Webster.

Then you turn either Deshawn or Randy Foye into an athletic 4, (like Anthony Randolph who is on the block or Tyrus Thomas), and go bigger.

Then you have a core of Arenas, Miller, Butler, Jamison, Haywood, Bass, McGee, McGuire, the athletic 4, Webster, Young and the Crittendon/Boykins combo.

I'm just sick of watching this team. They have no heart and no direction. That kinda falls on Flip too.

Posted by: saltine182 | December 17, 2009 1:47 AM | Report abuse

this team neva eva ceases to amaze me! they lose to the clippers and the kings! does that make us the worst team in the NBA? we have three former all-stars!!! what in the name of Susan O'Malley is happening?? this team is better than this...this is mind boggling. this nonsense is not funny at all...so i guess now we have to go through this with the wiz after the season we just suffered through with the redskins!! man...if i could i would call for an all out boycott of this team/organization until they show heart or make some moves to get some motivated athletes on this squad...athletes with heart and a will to compete!!!

ronniecope106

You got it right when you wrote

we have three former all-stars!!!

That's what happens when a team trades and/or sells it's draft picks?

Give Ernie a raise?

MINNESOTA, PHILADELPHIA, NEW JERSEY, GOLDEN STATE: teams with worst records than the wizards...FACT: we have the longest CURRENT losing streak (5 games) out of all the teams listed above. this is not good...

Once again you pups are being fed make believe food again (gil look like his old self, don't believe it just look at the compitition he was playing against) this team is a piece of sh**t and is not going to get any better. It was just wait for gil just wait for jamison just wait for miller just wait for a team that actually knows how to play the game.

Yea I noticed that bs but it was just ESPN that forgot to add that one point...comcast sports net had the right score the whole time and what really messed me up is when they didn't give us those two points when the refs failed to reset the shot clock.....SMH
