Gilbert Arenas to play tonight

6:45: Gilbert Arenas is not starting. Starters are: John Wall, Nick Young, Kirk Hinrich, Andray Blatche and Yi Jianlian

Washington Wizards Coach Flip Saunders said Gilbert Arenas will play in tonight's final home preseason game against Milwaukee, but he declined to specify in what capacity. That means Arenas will participate in his first game at Verizon Center since his league-imposed suspension last season.

"You'll know the starters 10 minutes prior to the game. That's my new policy," Saunders said with a chuckle when asked if he planned to start Arenas, who missed Tuesday's home game against Atlanta because he feigned a knee injury to give Nick Young playing time.

Arenas revealed the ruse to reporters following the 107-92 victory over the Hawks, saying he knew Young was frustrated about not getting an opportunity break into the three-guard rotation and thus felt compelled to sit out with a phantom sore left knee so his teammate could start. A day later, Saunders fined the three-time all-star an undisclosed amount.

Arenas missed the final 50 games of last season after the league issued a suspension stemming from bringing guns into the locker room at Verizon Center, and indications were he would make his return on Tuesday. But that didn't happen when Saunders said before the game Arenas had soreness in his left knee and would be held out.

"That's over with," Saunders said when pressed about the Arenas situation. "I'm not going to get into it. I've done it enough."

No Bogut but the Bucks are still a young and hungry team. Should be a good game.

lol, I swear before the game when I heard Gil was coming off the bench, I was thinking that I hope he doesnt have some bad karma like when EJ benched him that one game and he tore his knee up. Sure enough he gets hurt

seriously though, I hate to see Gil get hurt this close to the season when he was really starting to find his rythm(everywhere except the FT line aleast). It didnt look serious enough to keep him out the opener but it might keep him out the rest of the preseason and make him loose some conditioning & timing which sucks

So what's the likelihood that Gilby faked another injury as a hissy fit response to authority? Not likely, but also not impossible.

Based on what Flip Flop said above about him announcing the starting lineup 10 minutes before the game, it'd be funny if Gilby says he's injured again, but then comes out down the tunnel in another act of defiance like he did against Eddie Jordan.
